Your username

One thing I noticed about usernames is that they really do stand for you, especially in forums like this. If you're "flrfl345", and you get a few "likes" to your user name. After a while, you want "flrfl345" to be thought of as a good person-somebody, who gets "likes". You become flrfl345.
And when you see some user names, you think "Oh. God. NO".

I come from a place where Russian thistle (the tumble weed) is plentiful and blows hither and yon with the slightest breeze.
You could look out some evenings at the landscape and it would be moving along, tumbleweeds bouncing, raising a little
dust with each bounce, it appeared surreal as they moved from west to east, drifting along along with the tumbling tumble
weed according to the Sons of the Pioneers. A little dusty but a free spirit drifting along, that's me, drifter. And so it came to be.

Do you still have to get permission to cut a tree down in Austin?
It's worse now, than before, and more and more rules and ordinances are put in place with no advance notice. You have to contact a field agent to get the latest news, or hunt it down on the COA's website.
Also, the City Arborist Department is now shuffled up, every few months, so nobody has to own any specific tree issue.
Austin is known, throughout the US, as one of the worst cities for strict and absurd tree ordinances. Trouble with that is that more cities are studying Austin and then enacting similar rules in their local jurisdictions.
Additionally, new agents require their own, out in left field, treatments for trees that have been compromised, health wise, as they see it. So many hoops that you now jump through, are nowhere to be found in COA tree ordinances.
Absolutely crazy!

Some one on the forum took my username to another level..SMH!!!!

To calm your heart rate back to normal and get your mind off whatever..... those are my initials to my name. However, feel free to think as you wish. Hoping you don't have to call Emergency for resuscitation🥵
On the contrary, my lady, it provides me with a little rush that I find invigorating. I also find your (feigned?) naivete "uplifting!"

I know some that stick to their user handles wherever they lay their hat on forums.
I found that changing mine gave me a sense of anonymity but found that other cyber cruisers I rubbed along with wherever I was soon sussed me out and recognised me..lol!

I feel that we all have our own distinctive style of lingo on a forum message board and I have mine and no matter what input I post I have been sussed out at some stage by buddies on my other fora and this has never been negative so far.
Ive got one I used on a UK site that is my fave and folk still remember me by that name.:censored: ;)

Popped back in here to add that I love good Banter especially quick-fire on a forum message board and endeavour to stay within my idea of good taste and importantly decency. Im no prude but I dislike s*xual inuendo as Ive seen it many times go downhill and cause unrest amongst members of a forum. Many forums have rulings about this Board tactic and this impo a good thing.

if you've been on several different British forums over the years then I probably know you..because I've done the same. Changed my user name on almost every forum I've been on.., and I was on many ( including foreign forums when I lived abroad) over the past over 20 years (y)

yes most of us on this forum, in your previous name/s, and on other forums too...

I don't remember posting on this forum before. However, I have posted on so many it isn't surprising I don't remember them all. Forums are just a displacement activity for when I have nothing better to do for a few minutes, they are not an important part of my life as they are for some people.

Welcome Scottslass.

I have several Scottish born cousins living in Canada.

Mike.
