I like to watch the short videos of old engines starting,the funny animal antics and some musical instrument videos.but when I click off to another site the last one starts playing in a popup media player on my computer,i have to click it off or it will play while I am trying to watch a different one.

Yeah, that's a bit annoying. Somebody at YouTube thought it would be a good idea.

They also thought that playing an annoying sound effect when starting the YouTube app on Roku would be a good idea.

I do that all the time and also hit mute if I switch interests.

Ive got Adblocker , Sometimes the video maker will pull something out of a kitchen drawer and say they have been sent it for free to try , They get a percentage on sales , ive stopped watching some cause of it .
I wouldnt complain though if someone sent me something for free to try out .Maybe id rave about it . to get a income

I get ads almost every time I open a YT video. But usually the option of skipping them after 5 seconds is given. Occasionally an entire ad (approx 30 seconds) must be endured. @Pinky Are you a paid subscriber? If so, perhaps that's why you're not getting ads. Ads are how people who post the videos get paid, albeit a pittance per viewing. Old songs that may have been posted by music lovers, not artists or their representatives don't have ads before the videos start.

I pay for YouTube Premium, rather than endure ads. Same with Spotify Premium.
