What have you bought recently?

Speaking of shower scrubbing, what's your opinion on this?
Good morning, @StarSong....I've used this on baseboards and it works good, not so good on the A/C vents, I think it is because the dirt buildup on them is kind of greasy ......will need hot water and a liquid cleaner and I have not had time to try that or showers....the motor on device is strong and as advertised the charge last a long time, lots of different attachments.

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm considering it for my shower grout lines. Dealing with that gets tedious and my back doesn't reward me with happiness when I'm crouched over for 30 minutes or longer.

Snapdragons, lavender and new nippers. I lost the ones I had:(. We'd had a long and close relationship for many, many years. Sigh. It was all paid for with a gift card, and there's still about $70 left. Woohoo.

Paycheck is pending in my account. First thing in the morning it'll all get transferred to my EF and savings. Those accounts will be singing "We're in the money" 🎶🎶

I spent quite a lot of money today. In Costco.. over £100... ..in the Big Bo hardware store.. and in Tesco ... I spent over £200...

I won't list everything.. Costco was all paper essentials, and then some Frozen foods..like Tom Yum shrimp wonton Noodle soup.. , Prawn spring rolls..and catering packs of Bacon.. and I got 2 new Bath towels as well .. and 2 Pillows

Then in the supermarket along with the groceries.. I got some Winter jumpers at half price to put away for next year. really nice ones too.. also I got 2 Waistcoats.. one is a Black longer length ..and the other is a sage colour cotton which I wanted a couple of weeks ago to match a shirt I bought , but they'd sold out in my local branch...

In the hardware I bought several items.. including a wastepaper bin..which is what I went in for initially...

...so over £300.. was gone in just a couple of hours today...

We just got a big pack of Dixie coated paper plates from Costco. Normally I get Great Value (Walmart's brand) paper plates because they are cheaper and the quality is the same, but the Dixies were on sale.

I sympathise, Hollydolly. I find it all too easy to spend a load of cash these days. We don't have Costco here, but there is a wholesale store that sell to the public. I haven't visited it yet. I mentioned in another post that our new lounge suite should be delivered today. I was pleased that the local independent furniture and homeware store gave generous discounts and let me pay with my B.A. Amex card. I'm gathering up plenty of points to get cheap flights later in the year.

Update: Goods delivered and what a show it was trying to get them into the lounge. The two men did a great job once they figured out how to position the sofas to get them through the door. We felt bound to give them a tip and suggested they should buy a well earned drink.

Today? Ice cream and chocolate. Staples, yanno:ROFLMAO: And another gift card for one of the garden centers for next week when I need to get mulch. It's on sale. Also "bought" some cash because one needs to have walking-around money.

Today is 4x fuel points. It's 10 cents off/gallon but can only be used in 100 point increments. I'm trying to get to 50 cents/gallon or more before the end of the month. I hate that odd points don't roll over to the next month.

@hollydolly and @Capt Lightning, I feel your pain on how quickly money can fly away. The big ticket items are the ones that get me - like auto and home repairs.

I've been reading the very alarming news about microplastics being found in humans, clogging our bloodstreams, lodging in our organs, and doing heaven-only-knows what damage beyond the recently found cardio-vascular blockages.

So I'm moving away from plastics as best I can. Ordered a Contigo (stainless steel interior) travel mug to replace my plastic lined coffee travel mug. My personal water bottle happens to be SS, but am ditching all others we have and replacing with SS.

Earthquake emergency water has to be in plastic for obvious reasons, but anything smaller than that we'll dump on the plants or put in the pool and ditch the containers.
Contigo Superior 2.0 Stainless Steel Travel Mug with Handle and Leak-Proof Lid, Double-Wall Insulation Keeps Drinks Hot up to 7 Hours or Cold up to 18 Hours, 20oz Juniper
So many plastic food storage containers - might replace those with glass. Everywhere I look in my house there's something made of plastic. It's very distressing, to be honest.

exactly Star... I have SS cups now too.like the one above that you posted.. and yes I agree about it being stressful thinking about what's been going into our bodies from the plastic use containers, and linings. I've recently stopped heating anything in the microwave in it's plastic container , now that I've read about how heats creates an even worse scenario... . I'm now changing over to Platinum Silicone ...

I don't want to return to using glass (Pyrex ) dishes, because they're heavy for someone with arthritis , and also they're difficult to clean..

Plus all the plumbing parts & pieces to complete this DIY project. No drain in the garage so I'll have to locate the sewage clean out stand pipe to plumb the regeneration cycled water to that.

When we were at the medical supply store, we found an applicator for putting lotion on your back. $25.

Also, had to pick up a battery for the car key fob. The info screen told me it was low.
I don't want to rub salt in the wound...sorry... but they are so much cheaper on amazon.. and also Temu...

I not entirely sure about this.

I remember Tupperware, plastic wrap, butter tubs, plastic tumblers, sippy cups, picnicware, ice cube trays, pill bottles, and more plastic items that came in contact with food and drink and such back to the 1960s and probably before.

Perhaps the hazards are better known now. Perhaps the ubiquity is higher. Perhaps it's yet another thing to keep the population in a panic over instead of keeping an eye on real threats. Perhaps it's meant to sell more stuff, stuff with a higher price tag.

It reminds me a little of the glass and ceramics used way back when which contained lead or even radioactive minerals. Were there any credible studies showing deleterious effects of normal exposure?

Where all of the 🐔 🐔 🐔 that used to be attached to the bodies running around? :ROFLMAO:

I don't get hung up on all the stories about how bad things are for you. I use good old fashioned drinking glasses, 'pyrex' ovenware, ceramic plates etc.. but I'm doubtless dicing with death when I use my non-stick frying pan. Nearly all houses these days have drinking water supplied through MDPE 'plastic' pipes and probably everything else is bad for me in some way. Strangely, I'm still alive and in my 70's
