Update on Bonnie:
Her employer denied her the paid medical leave she's earned and they're being pissy about her medical insurance. Her employee insurance is through Kaiser and they're treating her like crap, too. Her PCP prescribed Norco for pain, but has it on hold until after an *investigation* because she was an addict 12 years ago. He said that over 3 weeks ago, and he still hasn't released it.
When she called on Monday to ask the PCP why she's still waiting for the Rx when she has terminal cancer, he said (according to Bonnie) "Well if you hadn't been a drug addict, you would even
have cancer!"
But worst of all, she hasn't been seen by an oncologist yet! The referral is still being processed still being processed still being processed
....!!
When Michelle heard all that she got on the phone and the very next day a social worker showed up at Bonnie's. The lady helped her fill out applications for social services, Medicare, and Medi-Cal. She assigned an in-home health aid, and the aid has already visited Bonnie twice....helped her shower, made her bed and straightened up the apt, set her up with grocery deliveries, and helped her get some laundry done.
Soon as she's approved for social services, Bonnie's going to give Kaiser one of these
...except one finger to the right... and go with a different medical center. It's affiliated with the hospital she went to that took the first MRIs and made the ca diagnosis back on Easter night. That was their hospital, and they've been really good to her...followed up and everything, and they're not required to do that.
This is a ton of stress off of Bonnie. Poor girl. And I know she's annoying, she is, but she isn't mean...she's just annoying. And she's very sick and deserves to be treated in a professional manner....at the least. Some compassion would be nice.
