Things I've Learned

We have 4 racks that hold a chord of wood. They get split at the beginning of the spring and by next fall most of it is dry. We are usually a year ahead of time for seasoning wood.

Your Woodstocks look similar to ours.
It’s a lot of work but rewarding. I like the idea of being self reliant when it comes to heat. Our house gets so warm that our heat pump shuts itself off plenty of times.
 

Been up here just over 30 years now, use propane and wood heat and love it. Both work well even when the power goes off, which still happens.
Half an hour or so (depending on the roads) from a village for the basics in supplies.
