When my daughter was around 6 or so she came running into the garage, "mommy bee, bee, bee getting David."
"Just leave the bee alone, it'll go away. Now watch David for one more second." At that point David (2), who was playing in a small baby pool, starts screaming and crying. My daughter continues screaming (while standing in the garage doorway) bee,BEE!
I walk to the doorway, look outside, and a swarm of bees is flying in a circle above David's head! Oh. Yup, bee, a swarm of bees. I realize that I am going to have to walk into that swarm of angry bees, pick up a screaming baby, and get him to safety.
Later, the beekeeper said there were over 200,000 bees in that swarm. Bees are angry when they swarm, he said. He asked how many times did the baby and I get stung. NOT ONCE, I replied. He told us to cut the small tree down that the bees settled in, I did. He couldn't explain why we weren't stung.
