Twins!

While identical twins do have same DNA they don't have same fingerprints.

My brothers used to attend a big convention for twins held in Twinsburg, Ohio. They took lots of photographs and met lots of women.
I think last time they went was in 2000, they would have been 44.

Ohhhh. This is good otherwise they might be convicted of a brother’s or sisters crime.
A twin convention you be fun. That would even make an interesting movie.

I had no idea holly. Im so sorry you lost your twin brother. Clearly twins CAN be both male and female. I figured so but wasn’t sure. A google search confused me more. Lol I’m glad you made it holly.

Thanks Keesha. Sadly, of course I never knew him at all, but i had another brother 14 months later and we went everywhere together as kids , everyone thought we were twins, so if you believe in reincarnation, maybe it was my first brother second time around... :D

My daughter is married to a twin. William (my son in law) and Michael his brother aren't identical, but look it. They are constantly being mistaken for each other when they're together, even though they no longer maintain the same appearance....William's beard is longer, Michael's hair is shorter etc.

They both have kids, and when the children were babies, Michael and William could be interchangeable parents, at least for a few minutes. It was uncanny though that those babies would know almost right away that they were in the arms of the wrong "Daddy."

My sister also had twins, a boy and a girl. Bret is 6"2", Tammy is 5'1" It confuses people enormously when they say they're twins!

My Mum was one of 14 children...three sets of twins in her family!

And finally, I miscarried twins after Paige. It was sad. I had always wanted twins.

Ronni dear. I’m so very sorry for your loss. That must have been very difficult.

Thats so very interesting. There are twins that aren’t identical but look it and then a male and female twin who are more uniquely different . That height difference is remarkable.

Fourteen children and three sets of twins. There must be a twin gene in your family.

Awwww.... I LOVE it and yes I DO believe in reincarnation so smile brightly reading your post. It sent shivers down my spine but good ones. :D

Identical twins must both be the same sex.

Fraternal twins are like any other siblings, they can be the same sex or not.

Falcon how old are your ''boys'' now, and do any of them have twins?
I would like to know more about them also. Falcon brightened up when talking about his twins like any proud father would do.
Yes-a know a pair of identical twins.I can tell them apart easily having known them since I was a kid but others can't!
I know a set of twins and cannot tell them apart.

Thanks twinkles. Could you tell them apart?

Thank you. I assumed identical twins would need to be of the same gender otherwise they aren’t identical but they are twins all the same. It’s just that most twins are the same sex and I was curious to know how many people knew of different sex twins as I find it interesting. Plus twins are just so darn cute and I’ve often heard if cute practical jokes they may have played on their dates etc. Lol

Oh yes. You have mentioned before that you had twins but I did not know you were a twin.
The twin thing must be genetic to some extent I assume.
Did your twins play any tricks on you? Do you have any fun stories you can share?

I'm a fraternal twin, as are my sons, so no twin-type tricks could be played on those who knew them, but they did impersonate each other on the phone sometimes, to the other's dismay but the hilarity to the rest of the family. It was stuff like enthusiastically volunteering for an early morning of clean-up at church, but in the other's name, then saying, "Ask my brother if he can come, too? I would but I already know he can't make it. He's got group plans to work on a huge project at school. But I'll be there for sure. You can count on me." The other twin would be fuming while the rest of us were laughing. They played equal numbers of pranks of this sort on each other so no harm, no foul. They're very close to this day.

Because my sons didn't necessarily censor their conversation when I picked them up from school I had a unexpected window into the minds of teenage boys. While driving them around I learned what teenage boys think about teenage girls - especially the "mean girls." I was surprised at how canny and resentful boys truly are when some girls cruelly wield power over other girls or boys. Teenage girls would be stunned at the derisive way they and their friends talked about those girls who led on and then quite publicly trampled the heart of some unattractive, but deeply smitten boy. Also the way they admired the girls who gently and privately let down boys who were crushing on them, but the feelings weren't mutual.

Trust me, it was an education.

One more twin thing - a dear friend's mother was half of a set of identical twins. The women married brothers and lived next door to one another for the rest of their lives. Biologically the wild and crazy gang of cousins were half-siblings, and lived in each others' houses as much as their own. Sad note - my friend's aunt developed Alzheimer's and his mother therefore could read the writing on the wall when she started to show the same symptoms. They both died as a result of that terrible disease.

p.s. Twins are defined as two babies carried in the same pregnancy. They can be typical identical (somewhat rare), mirror image (very rare), half-identical (very, very rare) or fraternal (most common, particularly now with fertility drugs and procedures).

My brother's daughters are twins,Katie&Liz.They look alike but it took me a couple of yrs to tell them apart. They sound different when I talk to them on the phone

Do you know that there can be identical triplets in rare cases? The egg splits, resulting in identical twins. Then one of the "split" eggs splits and voila! You get identical triplets, the same sex, of course. Of course, there "could" be identical quads or quints by the same process but that would REALLY be pushing the possibilities!

Ain't nature grand?

No Kesha we were as poor as barn mice due to a very neglectful childhood by alcoholic parents .
I’m 10 years older than the
The ā€œtwinsā€ so I took care of them ( and the 5 boys ) till,I left home at 18, then they all went into care after I left

Plural of mouse is MICE. lol

Maybe it’s cause I’m Aussie .:)

What are you talking about Keesha ?
Sorry Falcon. I was talking about this. The mice comment. Kadee fixed it for you. Lol :p

Great stories Starsong. Your boys sound like fun and mischievous like any healthy boy.
Thank you for sharing the stories? Are you hoping for grand twins? :)
Helpful definition that’s understandable.

My daughter in law is a twin and her mother had another set of twins. My DIL and her twin are identical, the other set of twins are not. All are girls. Years ago, a set of twins went to the church I went to. One was male, the other female. I believe I've read about celebrities who have twins of the opposite gender.
