Seniors, Do You Experience Lucid Dreaming, Where You Know It's Only A Dream?

A lucid dream is one where you know in the dream that you are dreaming, and it's not real. Sometimes in lucid dreams you have power to control what is happening, or succeed in waking yourself up if it's a nightmare. Sometimes you have no control in a lucid dream.

I sometimes have lucid dreams. If I'm dreaming that I'm flying, and I know it's a dream, I can take advantage and fly faster, higher and in desired patterns. I'm usually flying outdoors over nice scenery, but sometimes in a city environment, with buildings, etc.

Sometimes, if I'm running away from something in a nightmare, I realize it's just a dream and am no longer afraid of the outcome. In those dreams I can run faster and jump higher over things to get away. If someone's about to stab me or grab me, if I realize I'm dreaming I can consciously yell in a high pitch, knowing I will wake myself up...and this has worked numerous times. My husband sometimes hears me making a little fearful noise, and wakes me before I wake myself.

How about you? Ever have lucid dreams, and if so, do you have any control in them??

All the time. And yes, I can control them by telling myself to wake up...you don't like this dream. And I do. Sometimes, if something wakes me up before I am ready to and I want to finish the dream, I just tell myself "go back. Finish it" and...I do. :)

You're lucky Kaya, it's very rare that I can wake up and go back to sleep and continue a good dream, no matter how hard I try. I'm a big dreamer, very imaginative and in vivid colors...so good dreams are really enjoyed. Of course, nightmares are sometimes intensified also. If I take Melatonin for sleep, my dreams are much more intense. I'm an animal lover, and I've had dreams in the past of paisley patterned cats, and brilliant lilac colored Chow Chow dogs, LOL. If those were lucid dream, I'd sleep all day to continue them. :love_heart:

Normally I don't remember my dreams when I awake. However last night I had a very lucid dream, which is still making me blush this morning!:D

I don't think mine are lucid, because I always think I'm there. I always feel young in the dreams, still me today, but I am doing things more like I did in my youth. I can't remember a particular one right now. I also get to fly a lot, lol;) so love those dreams especially. They are very vivid, as if I can feel what it is like to fly and see over everything, always nature, trees etc.

I've been running from something and woke myself up because I yell in my dream, but it is a real yell. I hate feeling like I want to run but am stuck in way slow motion in the dream.

I feel younger and look younger in my dreams too Nwlady, and fly sometimes, but not often enough, lol. Experience that slow-mo thing a lot, very frustrating when trying to get away or reach a destination. Also have the dream where I need to make a phone call, and there's weird buttons on the phone, or I'm not able to press all the numbers needed for some reason. Have had a pre-cognitive dream also when I was younger.

I had a doozy last night..and still remember it vividly even now. I woke myself up crying, then dropped right back into it. I didn't mind. I wanted to see more. Learn more. Explore more.
