This is my fist post on this forum other than my introduction one a few weeks back. First is my thanks to the 14 people that greeted my on my intro post.

I did browse a few topics and I hope this forum is OK and not to political at all. Politics is where a lot of people go overboard and become quite hateful about others that make political comments or have their posts interpreted to be political. I feel all topics should be allowed without hateful responses from some. I have been writing on several forums over the years and found most to be OK. Comments do get challenged but often in kind or friendly ways. I am also on a forum that for years was a challenging forum but only in the last 2 plus years has become nearly impossible to post on due to a couple folks that do not want to allow what they consider to be evil or contrary posts. I hope this forum does not show that nasty way of existing. So I am joining with an open mind and will be joining in on some of the topics I think are interesting.

For starters, I looked into one thread that started out fine but then the topic was changed to pure political tripe. Personal challenges to some posters by telling them of their wrong comments. Those kinds of comments just point out that the challenger does not allow for open posting and wants us all to post the same. This should not happen. I would not use this for my first post but I am being heavily attacked on a different forum for just such reasons so I am saying I hope not on this forum.

Hello Bob, sometimes when posts are political there may be disagreements, but never anything nasty or bordering on bullying as you have experienced on that other forum.

I hope you stay and enjoy the forum.:)

Welcome Bob, my advice would be "Jump right into that second post...and leave your worries on the doorstep"! Just keep Bob'n around!
 
Bob, from reading your first post I have the impression you're a nice guy, and we will all benefit from your involvement in this forum. Looking forward to getting to know you better.
 
Well said BobF. There are a few who respond to posts that border on toxic; calling you stupid for posting.

So I'm shying away from posting anything but the weather.
 
Thanks Bee. Sorry that you too have had to live with some nasty comments too. It should be better over there but doubt if anytime soon.

Politics is fine with me. There are a few on here I never agree with politically and strange as it may seem they don't seem to agree with me either. I even disagreed with Seabreeze recently and I usually am on her side about most things.

I haven't had a problem with anyone being rude or hateful. We all have opinions. If you don't post yours those with differing opinions will gain an advantage.
 
Falcon, Put on some warm slippers, and jump back in. We all need mental stimulation, and that come from different opinions. Sometimes I don't have a clue as to what's being said, so I don't comment, but I am learning from both sides.

My sisters name is Lois too. But she lives in New York state.

For about five years I live in Boca Raton FL. It was OK but never got real adjusted to all the humidity. My son was having problems and the doctors suggested we move to a drier climate so we moved to northern Colorado. My son and daughter still live in norther Colorado. I would too but now am short on oxygen so we left the 6,300 ft altitude of Colorado four corners area for the lower altitude of southern Arizona.

I'm not very political at all, I'm an Independent and have voted for both parties in the past. This is a friendly forum, and we don't condone any name calling or personal attacks. Discussion of both sides of any issues is welcome here if done in a respectful and considerate way, keeping it to the dispute of the topic, not putting down the poster.

If you mean quoting some, like I did here, you can click on "Reply with Quote" under the message window. To reply to multiple posts, click "Multi-post" on each message, then click on "Reply to Thread", they will all be there for you.

Don't do that. That is what ruins a good board and this is a good board. Keep posting, hon.

Please don't do that Falcon. I hope nothing that I have posted has called you or anyone else stupid for having an opinion different to mine. I'm racking my brains now wondering if I have offended. If I have, please pm me and set me straight.

It is vitally important that all voices be heard. Don't be timid about posting on any topic. Don't expect everyone to agree with you either.

I haven't noticed any venom spitting from the left but that is because there is hardly anyone to the left of me. I know I haven't been spitting venom. Dingoes may growl but seldom bite and we never spit. :lol:

And last but not least, welcome aboard, BobF. We meet again and I am pleased about that. I hope that you are pleased too. I remember long interchanges elsewhere that were always amiable. This time round you are the native and I am the visitor.
 
Just be yourself Bobf.. everyone is entitled to their own opinion.. and I as far as being political its good to have all opinions..
whether some get offended they shouldn`t hit back with nastiness thats not being polite.. we all should be able to voice what we
believe in or believe to be true to us.. others may not agree but they have a choice to believe in what they think is right to them but still
they should let each have their own view.and accept it as it is maybe I have this all wrong but this is how I take it to be.
I know about all that nastiness you had to endure and it wasn`t fair at all .. bit disgusting if I may
say so .. you spoke how you felt and what you believe in and that should be how it is.. you won`t find the same here Bobf I can guarantee
this as all are great here and no one contradicts one another .. its a lovely forum.. I know I am not on here often but when I do come I love
it.. I feel at home here. amongst friends and Falc being my dear friend from way back a bonza bloke you would ever meet.. just enjoy this forum
Bobf and I know you will , and post many wonderful things for us all to enjoy.. as many do already.. enjoy your night there ..
 
Hello BobF,

I'm relatively new here as well. I've been treated nicely by everyone. If I post my political opinion and someone disagrees, I usually just let it roll off my back. Life is too short to argue with someone behind a computer.

I hope you like it here.
