Glasses!

I wear Varifocals all the time, some people can’t get on with them but as soon as I started wearing them it was like having a new pair of eyes

I don't wear glasses all the time
I wear bifocals when I'm on the computer,reading paper,my books,watching TV
The other glasses I use I bought at $store

Didn't need 'em till I hit my 40's. Then started using readers. By the time I hit my 50's I realized I was at the highest strength readers. At the same time I was dating an Ophthalmologist and so I asked him to check my eyes. He prescribed contacts which I wore happily till 2013, when I finally had the weird bump on my lower lid checked out, and was diagnosed with eyelid cancer. They had to open my entire cheek to get it all, I lost that lower lid completely (including lashes I might add!) and as a result I couldn't wear contacts anymore...they wouldn't stay in that eye.

Switched to glasses, progressive lenses for most stuff, but single vision computer/reading glasses for when I'm doing close work.

Started wearing prescription glasses in 2008, but was wearing Reading Glasses, some time before then.

Now, after having Laser Cataract Surgery in both eyes last year, no longer wear prescription glasses at all. However, do wear Reading Glasses to see iPhone and small/tiny print on something.

WOW! I’ve never heard of this either. Good thing you discovered it.

I need glasses for everyday wear and have two different pairs. They get exchanged every two years since we have extended healthcare. I also wear prescription sunglasses and wouldn’t be without them on sunny days no matter the season

I also get my eyes tested every 2 years, it's free for anyone over 60...

Glasses however are just as expensive, but I have 3 pairs of each..distance, and reading specs... and of course my sunglasses.

I just had my eyes tested last month, no change in the prescription but I need to get new reading glasses because mine have tiny minute scratches on the lenses, even tho' I pay for non scratch lenses...annoying!! I'm thinking to give online retailers a try this time, otherwise my specs cost anything upwards of £300 every time...

They aren’t cheap but considering they are an item that sits on your face from the time you get up to the time you go to bed , you bet I’m getting nice comfortable ones that look GREAT! My last glasses were just short of $700 but worth every penny.
Good eyesight is a necessity not a privilege.

I was very scared, Holly. So scared. Even with the reassurance of the surgeon that my eyeball wasn't compromised, just the skin around it, I was still afraid. It was a difficult time.

If you're squeamish, don't scroll down.

I wear progressive lenses, computer glasses, and of course, prescription sunglasses. We get free checkups here for seniors, though the cost of 3 prescription glasses is not inexpensive.

Same here Pinky...3 pairs of specs and I'm looking at the better part of £1,000 or more, every 2 years if my prescription changes

jeeez ... that looks horrific Ronni, how brave you were to go through it, and come out better the other side,,,,

I put on my glasses when I get out of bed, and take them off before I go to bed....have them on virtually every waking moment. My eyes began to weaken in my early teen years, so I've worn glasses most of my life. Since my old Dad had Macular Degeneration in his later years, I try to take care of my vision, and get a thorough eye exam every year, and take a couple of supplements...per the eye doctor...to hopefully avoid that issue as I age. My prescription hasn't changed much in years, so I keep older pairs of glasses in the car and truck, and in my workshop (for yard work, etc). I get new glasses every year...titanium frames, progressive polycarbonate lens, and good scratch resistant coatings. I try to take good care of my vision and hearing....as loss of those senses would seem, to me, to be a real curse.

Just been using over the counter readers at 1.75 strength, but also have one pair of 2.0 that I use sometimes for smaller print. I pair of 2.5 that I only use for taking out a splinter, etc. My husband and I have the readers in almost every room, when I go out shopping I hang a small pair on the neck of my shirt. I've been having to put them on more and more often though, thinking about getting prescription glasses in the next year or so and leaving them on all day. Not sure how that'll work for me though, I hate glasses on my face, even sunglasses I have to force myself to use these days to make up for years of abusing my vision in the sunlight.

Do you wear them?
Are they just for reading or do you need them all the time?

I have been wearing specs since I was about 30. I have ones for distance and others for reading, I couldn't cope with varifocals.
