When was the best music made, was it when you were in high school (14-18)?

When do you think was the best era in pop music? When you look back, was it the years you spent in High School ages 14-18?

.

They were the same years for me

Let's not forget Elvis, because I loved him. Roy Orbison was another of my favorites. I loved music and went to dances every Friday ,Saturday and Sunday nights at our local High schools. They were the good old days and I miss them.

I don't know if it was indeed the very best in terms of talent but I guess it is mostly opinion; with that I'd say the late 70s were really great!

I've liked music, all my life. I like the "rock" from the 50's and 60's, too...but I also like some of today's music and performers. We get MTV Live on our TV, and I watch 3 or 4 good concerts every week. The Only thing I don't care for is the Hip Hop and Rap Crap....any resemblance of that nonsense to Music is purely coincidental. My All time favorite would probably be Pink Floyd.

It is nonsense to me too. Now my "grands" don't agree and that's okay. They will probably throw away all of my cds when I leave this world.

My Era was the 70's it was when I was a teen and then very early 20's.. so I love the music from that decade best. I grew up as a small child listening to 60's music and I love that too but not quite as much...

However music is my passion and apart from Rap and Opera, I appreciate every year really.. right back to the Big Bands of the 40's...

Definitely the 60's. I played bass (badly) in a R&B band. We were pretty awful, but I had two friends who were successful in the rock industry. They both emigrated to Canada and were part of the band "Edward Bear". Later I worked with a guy who was bassist for "Simon Dupree & the Big Sound" (for anyone who remembers them).

The best music has been made eons ago, all throughout history, today and into the future. Music is music.

When speaking of my "era", I'm still in it and you are still in yours. Music doesn't start when you're a teenager, nor does it turn bad when you're out of your teens.

It could be that our teen years, being the time of our adult awakenings, heightened emotions, sexual awareness, romance... is the reason that we listened more closely and reacted more strongly to the popular music of the day.

That music was just as great in it's own ways, as in any other decade past or to come.

Exactly ... Truer words were never spoken!

The 50's rock and roll was the music I loved. By the time I hit high school I was deep into country music. I didn't tell my friends though it just wasn't the "in" thing back then. Now the hubby and I still enjoy classic country and western music with the old Rock and Roll thrown in.

I was a child of the 70's and used to think the best music was made then. I have grown to love easy listening from the 50's and 60's.

The Mid 60's Rock to Mid 70's Rock was everything to me. Bands such as The Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, to Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith.

We received two complimentary tickets to a rock concert at our local casino. The group is called Arch Allies, and they recreate some of the hits by Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, REO, and Boston. We went to one of their shows last year, and they are Great. The show is on the 14th of June, and we've reserved a hotel room and already looking forward to the show.

I love all kinds of music... I remember my very first favorite singer was Del Shannon... But my all time favorite is Frank Sinatra. I grew up listening to my mother's records with her... Nancy Wilson, The Platters, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole and they are still favorites. When I was in high school, my favorite band was Buffalo Springfield and I was hooked on Stephen Stills, no matter what band he was in. While I liked the Beatles, I wasn't a huge fan, although I did stand in line for hours to see A Hard Days Night and Help, but I never went to any of their concerts. Later it was Chicago, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Moody Blues....
