Security of your possessions in medical offices

When I have a medical appt, and they need me to go to another area for an X-ray, etc. I always take my purse/wallet/keys/phone or whatever. I do this even if they say 'leave it, it'll be okay'. The way I see it, I am responsible for my property/possessions. And, it's easy for anyone to walk into one of those small waiting rooms and walk off with a purse, etc. I do NOT need the hassle.

I never miss a Seinfeld rerun. I've seen some of them several times, all of them at least once. It is my favorite series of the past. Jerry was smart to go out on top

Quite true, what's in that video. That's why God invented the Glock, teehee.
From personal experience, punching someone in the head/face with an unprotected first is a great way to end up with a really bad infection. Even worse - an infection that can cost you your hand or your life. The human mouth has several strains of really bad bacteria & if you cut yourself on your opponent's teeth, you may regret it more than he will.

I avoid any kind of confrontation, but one troublemaking co-worker wouldn't leave me a choice. I managed to knock out two of his teeth. I was OK for a couple of days, then my hand swelled up & I had to go to the ER. I got antibiotics & the doctor said maybe surgery if they don't work. Luckily I was OK without surgery in a couple of weeks. Lesson learned.

Later, I was watching a true crime case documentary. A guy broke into an elderly woman's hotel room & beat & raped her. She died. The guy's hand later swelled up & he was forced to seek medical attention because of the infection. He almost lost the hand. He was convicted of the murder because investigators found the same strain of bacteria in his hand that was in the woman's mouth.
 
I always take my purse with me in any medical facility. If I have to be an inpatient my daughter takes it home to keep. Luckily the few times I went from ambulance to an emergency procedure I always got it back ok. The big radiology facility here that does the m-grams and also of scans & stuff like that, where one has to put on a gown & roam around they even provide a big net bag to carry your clothes in. (I bring my own tote bag for that now) & the quality of patient care & compassion at that place is really excellent.
 
After Sept 11, security tightened up in govt buildings, airports, etc. particularly in the downtown areas. But in most medical bldgs that I know of anyone can just walk in and easily walk into any waiting room, cafeteria, doctor's office, X-ray room....whatever. Even hospitals are relatively easy to roam around in.

Huh, I've pasted many a mouth.
Dozens, maybe a hundred or more.

No infections

Guess I've been lucky
 
Whenever I go to the Doctors either my Husband or my daughter goes with me. So if I can't take my purse or any other item in the room with me I leave it to whoever came with me.
 
I always take my purse with me. When I was in hospital with my hips I had my daughter-in-law take my purse home with her. I have little faith in the honesty of my fellow man.
