A local school district has ended the valedictorian achievement recognition . Saying that it makes those that could not compete at that level, feel like they are something less, and could leave life-long emotional scars. Well, in a sense, academically , they are.
Ah but rest assured.....the football/basketball hero's will remain, and continue to be awarded for their on field achievements. And there will continue to be a homecoming king & queen.
Just after hearing that.....I read up on the K-12 program. A free public school program, where the student does not even need to attend "school" . His/her education can be had from home via computer....all the way to graduation/diploma?..........Just how many diplomas do you think will actually be earned here?
Folks, I think we are heading in the wrong direction......
