Saw a Sweet Ride the other day

When I went to replenish my ice cream supply, as I came out of the store something caught my eye:

1962 red cadillac convertible, with fins!

My first bf used to pick me up in his dad's caddy. It wasn't a convertible, and it was shiny black, but seeing that car brought back memories. The driver looked like a baby boomer and when he saw my admiration, we waved. :)

when I moved to Canada moons ago we brought brand new --Pontiac Parisienne convertible- in aqua beautiful motor - so off we went to tour some states ..great days ………..

I always liked the big Buick’s. The Wildcat and the Electra 225 were my favorites, especially when they were fitted with the 455 cu.in. engine with about 360 horsepower.

@911

My mom's last car was a new 1978 Buick LeSabre. It served her well. :)

As the saying goes, they don't make 'em like that anymore.

btw Buick Regal was also a great car.

Back in the mid 60’s to early the 70’s, Buick had a car called the Grand Sport. It was built on the same platform (frame) as the Special and the Skylark, just a little beefier. The best model of the Grand Sport was the version that had the big 455 cu.in. engine and 350 or 360 hp. That baby could move. It also offered a 4-speed transmission.

Over the years, Buick has maintained a good many of its loyal customers, but it will probably fade away like the Pontiac and Oldsmobile and that will be a shame, but like they say. “That’s the way the cookie crumbles.”

Cars in general are becoming less and less each year. People have switched their taste from buying an automobile to an SUV, a crossover, which is an in between a car and an SUV, or a pickup, which has also undergone significant changes. I do see some vans around, which make a good traveling vehicle, especially if they include a conversion package.

Seems we agree here.......exception being the color.....:eek: ....I'd rather pay that amount , for that. Than any of the cookie-cutter cars being offered today. But, in the norm, we're stuck with what they do offer.

My MIL had that exact car-the `59 Cad Convertible. My sister in law got in a wreck in it and totalled it. (it was her DIL,not her daughter) Glad it wasn`t me. She then got a `61 pink Cad 2dr coupe. We drove it to Disneyland on our honeymoon <3

We had a 1957 Chrysler Imperial that was a huge beast. While driving in NJ, the wife was hit by a 1 ton van that ran a stop sign. :eek: Totaled the van and yet we were able to drive the Imperial back to Vermont where I found some doors and repaired it. They darn sure don't make them like that anymore. (y)
