You know it's getting bad when it comes too people stealing when this happens.

The theft at these dollar stores is high now because they sell just about everything.

The ones in our area have higher prices now, hardly anything is selling for a dollar.

For instance a charging cable is $4.00.

Dollar Tree is the way to go. EVERYTHING is just $1. Those other dollar places I have permanently boycotted, as they use false advertising to get folks in their doors.

Dollar Tree is the only dollar store I frequent. The bread is very fresh and I like the frozen fruit. Cleaning supplies are very good.

Yup same here.. . It started off at everything £1 for a few years , then gradually they doubled the prices on many items. ( we don't have Dollar tree )..we have Poundland.. and all their derivatives , but recently lots of them, 99p store and more have gone out of business..

Shoplifting is bad everywhere. It has become common. I rarely if ever, read about someone being charged. Same with bicycles. Leave them out even locked and they bring portable cutters. I have lost about 3 bikes so far. But now the bike I have allows me to take off the front wheel. They won't steal a bike they can't ride.

The police don't care. They sell abandoned bikes on the internet and they get the funds.

Some stores here require people with backpacks to leave them at the front counter.

Here in Tennessee we have both Dollar General and Family Dollar which have similar products and similar prices.

And then yeah, there's Dollar Tree, where everything is $1.

This annoys me: From an article about Family Dollar which is owned by Dollar Tree, closing hundreds of stores, and now some investors are wanting Dollar Tree to raise its prices.

Family Dollar closes stores

"But Family Dollar has struggled and Dollar Tree's (DLTR)stock price has slipped since the deal. An activist investor heavily pressured the company earlier this year to dump the ailing Family Dollar line and start selling Dollar Tree merchandise for higher prices."

Never mind the shoplifting at Dollar Tree, I was at Lowe's a few weeks ago. I bought a solar post light. In the light bulb section, I found some empty light bulb packages .Some one had stolen them. I found some empty packageas in the light switch section. When I got home, I opened the solar post light. Someone stole the rechargeable batteries I had to bring it back. I do have to say that when you never see a store clerk, it increases your chances of swiping something, unseen and un-noticed.

In fact, the stores almost seem to be encouraging shoplifting, by having so few sales clerks. Maybe it's cheaper for them that way, in the long run. But what does it say about, well, everything?

I prefer 99 cents store to the others. It's ok with me if some things are over a dollar - it's plainly marked when the cost is higher. I prefer that over when they keep reducing the size of the item in order to hold the price.

some people get a buzz from the actual stealing -- cheap skates --we have pound world in uk. and many more -and there is so much of it happening '

In some of our supermarkets Cheese, and raw meat products all have security alarms on them!!

In recent times I tried to buy a box of latex gloves, almost every box on the shelf had been opened and lots of gloves taken out...

A few months ago I bought a hair colourant which incuded a powder sachet with the bottle of dye ... not 'till I got home did I realise someone had stolen the powder sachet !!
