Commercials on TV

I like to watch some shows on the Internet....far fewer commercials. On average, a one hour show seems to be about 42 minutes of show, and 18 minutes of commercials. I usually tune in to the evening news....usually ABC...and again, that 1/2 hour broadcast has about 12 minutes of commercials. My remote Mute button gets plenty of exercise.

I disapprove of that. On a serious channel like the news, ads should only been shown on the hour, not between news reports. It is especially inappropriate during a dramatic incident....it trivialises everything.

It wouldn't be so bad if the showed different ads. Some stations show the same ads over and over. Agggghhhh!
I think that happens because they judge what sort of person is likely to watch certain programmes and so the ads are targeted to that group. I watch tv in the afternoons, not the evenings, and all the ads are intended for elderly, or disabled people. They obviously think those are the only people likely to be watching during the day.

they are a dam pest listening to the same music used in different adds.. I turn off the sound until finished '
yes they certainly are much longer --- especially of a night when watching a tv film 'sometimes I forget what I was watching Arrrgh'''''''''(n)''

To avoid commercials:
I watch virtually all network TV via DVR replay.
My computer is set up so that videos can not start automatically and my sound is turned off unless I deliberately turn it on.
