High energy older folk

Theres a guy at work who teaches guitar to high school kids. He turns 70 this year. Ive never seen him even look vaguely tired. he seems to thrive on work especially human interaction. he is always smiling and never gossips or has a negative thing to say about anyone. Loves what he does.
The only weakness he might have is high pride. I think he is proud of his energy. he knows he can work as hard someone 20 years younger. But that is about all. Otherwise he is a miracle to behold!

I bet he takes naps that really helps to energize some people my husband is one of them.

We have high energy, but I consider us "young" seniors. I'm going nuts waiting to feel better from my surgery, and neither of us can sit still through a tv show, though we both like to watch.

IMO, I think it’s in the genes. His mom, dad or another blood relative may have passed down the gene and/or blood that allows people like your friend to keep going. It could also be that he actually loves and enjoys the type of work he does. OTHOH, if he had a job that required physical labor, his energy level may dissipate in a hurry.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is still going strong at 86. She is an inspiration! She's survived three bad types of cancer: colon, pancreatic, and lung, and it hasn't even slowed her down. She apparently has no intention of retiring.

I get the energy thing. I've been told I have a lot of energy. I don't really think that about myself, because I do get tired much more easily than I used to. But I have never been one to just sit, I'm a doer, always busy with something, and I've been that way all my life. I do just as much as I ever have. I just take a bit longer, or I'm a bit slower to accomplish things whether it's chores or recreational, fun stuff.

Too, I think it helps that I have no health problems, and that I dance. My knees and hips are a bit creaky sometimes, but after a couple minutes of moving around that stiffness disappears.

I'm guilty of that. I turn 69 in a couple of weeks. I'm not working, but I spend a couple hours a day at the gym and can outrun 90% of the people in these classes regardless of age. Weight lifting, not so much. Wife and I both continue to do mountain hiking which is why we're so motivated to keep weight off, work out, eat healthy, etc. There is no reason for a 70 year old, unless they have some chronic condition beyond their control, to not be able to do marathons. People are just not motivated and think people like ourselves are nut cases. If people cared about their health, they could all be 'high energy'. And yes, I do need a half-hour nap each day.

I somewhat agree with this. Plus don't ever stop or you may not be able to start again.
