Has anyone else here had to deal with someone they care about suffering a closed skull brain injury?
My husband was rear-ended by a drunk driver on April 13, 2018 (Friday the 13th!) My husband was in his big crew cab Silverado with a camper shell and the drunk was in a Mazada Miata but was traveling 90-95 mph on a 60 mph divided highway. The truck only ended up with a bent bumper. The Miata was pretty much totaled. If the truck sat up any higher, the Miata would have just gone under it. My husband did not actually hit his head but saw a bright flash of light at the moment of impact. With adrenaline so high from the accident it was about 36 hours later that he started suffering with a headache that didn't leave him for months.
It took us forever to get into a neurologist to see him. Most in our area refuse to deal with accident victims because they don't want to deal with third-party insurance. He started neurofeedback treatments a few months after the accident. Continued them for a few months and the neurologist had him take a break before restarting treatments again two weeks ago.
This incident has totally changed my husband, our family, our household, our marriage and his business. We are sinking financially because he is self-employed. Our attorney is working on filing lawsuits on our behalf. This has been a total nightmare for almost 18 months.
Has anyone else here dealt with anything like this? I'm about at the end of my rope. For every two steps forward there's one to one and a half backward. I could really use someone in my life that understands what I'm going through.
Thanks for "listening."
