What an eye opener.

Remember when... thirty seemed so old.
This video and several others by this Dr. was certainly an eye opener. I believe it is well worth a look. In a backwards sort of way, my wife has been shedding weight and losing the need for certain medications without understanding why or how it was happening.
After listening to this man's credentials, I have to say that I'm impressed. The video is a bit long, but he has a way of making even a dummy like me understand a lot of what's going on inside of us. :)

Could you give a synopsis please, Mr. dog? It is a real long video......... I'm particularly interested in your wife's case. Thanks.

This is an interview with Dr. Gundry. He's awesome! If you have more tummy than you want, this doctor has the answer. My daughter first showed me a different video of him and I couldn't take notes fast enough. I've only watched part of this one above but will get back to it. It's worth it.

He's a little braggadocios in the beginning but he probably wants us to know he has the credentials to know what he's talking about. That's important.

Wife started off just wanting to lose weight. Over her life, she had tried all kinds of diets and weight watchers etc. Finally, in desperation, she decided to stop eating anything after 4 pm. Nothing but water and sometimes maybe a hint of cranberry juice. In less than seven months, she lost 42 lbs. Mostly that was the blubber you accumulate. After that, the weight comes off a lot slower, but, it does come off. Coming from an Italian family, everything she makes, has extra virgin olive oil. (that's what made me chuckle when the dr. said all the food you're eating is to just get olive oil in your system)
She started looking online to see what foods seem to help lose weight and that's when she discovered this Dr. It was surprising to say the least to discover how many foods are not really good for you. I believe he's correct that most problems start in you gut. His credentials are impeccable and not just some off the wall dr. trying to hawk books.
There's a lot more, but, I'm kind of busy right now as winter is fast approaching and I have a bunch of unfinished projects that need to get done. That, and a crappy slow internet that cuts out a lot makes online stuff not a whole lot of fun.

Well I sat through it..... ;) The one item I took note of was his promoting egg yokes ,. Around what ? ten years ago it was the yoke that was killing us. Egg beaters, no yokes, were [as they say] all the rage, avoid the yoke etc, Now ? throw away the white & eat the yoke.

It is getting harder & harder to take any of these [book writers] seriously & believe what they say / follow their advise.

Whites of the eggs only have protein whereas yolks have tons of various healthy benefits.
There are 2 kinds of cholesterol:
LDL(bad) can increase heart issues.
HDL(good) helps wash the bad LDL cholesterol from your bloodstream.
How you prepare your eggs matters. I use Avocado Oil if frying or use any vegetable oil
Hard-boiled is great
Buy Pasture-raised eggs...the hens live outdoors and eat a mostly natural diet

Not arguing, as you post good advise but.....I myself [and most of us] buy what is in the store. As far as chicken , how do we know what they ate, or didn't eat ? Again we buy what the store/butcher has.....sort of a sad fact, but a fact still the same.

I didn't notice that he was overweight. That doesn't matter to me. You can have a wealth of research and knowledge to share and help a lot of people but still have your own struggles with will power, genetics, mood swings, chemistry, thyroid, lack of sleep, and such. He's a genius with a super impressive resume with a record of over 10,000 heart transplants, former President of the American Heart Association, inventions, etc

I noticed his girth as well, I think the point is ? If he knows the secret to good/perfect health......he shouldn't have that girth.

Not dismissing his credentials one bit but......I think he's a book seller.

And I still maintain that not everyone reacts the same to a diet/medicine/supplement....

And once again, George Burns outlived Jack LaLanne.........

Both of them lived into their 90's and Jack LaLanne and friends had a fantastic 90th birthday party, dancing all night...you sure can't beat good DNA!

Staying positive, and being happy is supposed to play a big part in life span. So stay happy and find something to laugh about everyday.

Just me ... but when someone is giving health advice, I just naturally take in their overall appearance.
What I see here is a gentleman clearly overweight.
So, just curious, do you feel that way about Oprah? Her weight is up and down...certainly not trim. She owns part of Weight Watchers, is on the board, was originally asked to come and sell the diet program and books, etc.

Btw, off topic, regarding her stake in the WeightWatcher stocks, on Tuesday she lost 43Million in the stock market but I'm sure that won't hurt her much.

I just read of recent studies showing dramatic links between optimism and longevity. I so hope those of us here on the forum are able to focus on the joy of simply "celebrating daily life", think that would be so uplifting for all of us. Thats the challenge with life, its so "daily" now isn't it?!

The rich and poor can struggle with weight issues alike .. If that program helped her lose weight, then good for her!
