I realize times are changing, but really...

The same way inserting "like" into sentences did? LOL

When I was in high school I had the habit of saying ''you know'' after every few words. My favorite teacher asked me a question in class and after a few ''you know'' he said, "No, I don't know, that's why I'm asking you". The whole class laughed and that got rid of my habit. I'm always amazed when I hear interviews with famous people and lots of them have that habit.

:) When I was a child adults often said, "You've got to eat a pound of dirt before you die", as they wiped the grit from a sandwich that had been dropped on the floor. Eating dirty did me no harm and I have a healthy immune system because of exposure to relatively benign germs.

The human species has co-existed with all sorts of micro-organisms for millennia and apparently we need a certain combination of them in our gut for good healthy. Fear of germs is overdone. We only need to avoid the most dangerous ones. I heard yesterday that parents are afraid to give a baby some honey because it isn't sterile but surely honey is something that humans everywhere have been eating straight from the hive since forever. It may rot the teeth if eaten to excess but it isn't going to poison us.

As for sleeping clean, it is sufficient to wash the bedclothes regularly according to the season and to occasionally place the pillows in the sun to sterilise them. Invisible micro-organisms that might be thriving on our dead skin cells don't like the ultraviolet light from the sun at all. I always air the mattress cover on the clothesline every time I change the sheets. Our bed is clean enough and that is all that is necessary for good health.

Agree with all except for the part about honey. Even when my kids - now in their 30s - were babies I was warned off honey by their pediatrician.

I must really be behind the times. I don’t understand any of this stuff and don’t even remember hearing about it. It sounds like something I wouldn’t give much attention to even if I did.

I think with honey the issue is that babies digestive systems have not yet secured enough immunity to ward off them from getting botulism.

As far as I can tell, clean sleeping means going to bed at the same time every night, turning off your devices, getting 8 hours of sleep, and not having caffeine in the afternoon. All very sensible things. Calling it "clean" however, is ridiculous.
