I drive a stick shift , or manual as it's called here. Always have, aside from a few rental automatics when abroad and I don't like them they're too slow .. . Out of the 38 million vehicles on British roads, only 8 million are automatic or semi-automatic..
 

Parallel parking reversing in between other parked cars ....no thanks o_OI will walk an extra block or two to avoid having to park that way
 
Where I live most of the parking in the main city / shopping area is Parallel parking
The city in (Victoria ) has a population of about 33.000 so I’m not taking about a huge city area.

On the other side of the river is a different state (New South Wales ) they reverse park into the kerb ..Im not fond / good at that either o_O
 
Once I passed my driver's test on the second try, I was fine with driving our little stick shift VW bug. Driving an automatic shift car seemed so easy after that!

I'm an excellent reverse parker... My husband OTOH can't reverse parallel park without his reversing camera, unless the space is HUGE..whereas I can reverse into a space just the same length as my car between 2 other vehicles, without any problems at all, and usually in just one attempt!!..

Funny true story. Many years ago I was in a bad wreck and was laid up for months. Then I walked with a cane for a while - my driver's license had expired ...went to stay with my mother in law for a weekend while my husband and father went golfing out of state. Was bored out of my mind; remember, couldn't drive - felt suffocated beyond description. In laws lived in the small town we were born in and you couldn't walk to stores and restaurants.

First thing I did was grab our big old boat of a Lincoln Continental and we hot footed it for the DMV to take the test again and get a new license. Parallel parked that baby perfectly. The driving instructor got out and shook his head, and said "lady, was going to pass you no matter what", who drives a big Lincoln in here to take this test, anyway?! You have guts.

That's a GREAT story, Liberty. It was hard to see where the funny part was going to come in when the first sentence said you'd been in a bad wreck that laid you up for months.

Hoping you had no permanent physical damage. Obviously it didn't affect your driving ability...
 
Sewing. In home ec class, I sewed not one, but both!!! the sleeves together on a short sleeve top. Point of sleeves is that your arm should be able to go through! What makes it worse is that I realized I'd done it to the first sleeve, ripped the seam and fixed it. Then did the same thing again on the other sleeve.

Yeah, a guy hit me doing 80 mph when I was sitting still, the last car in a line cars stopped on the freeway. Gear shift (floor shift) screw top went up through my leg to the thigh bone. I hobbled around for 6 months and had a cane...finally decided as I could climb up the steps on the bus, hey I could go back to work.

Got a job in the old Rockefeller's guest house which was occupied by an engineering company. Had to climb like 3 sets of old stairs day in and day out and sure do think that's what has made my leg so strong today. Ran 5 miles day for many years!
Funny, huh.
