The World Has 53.3 Years of Oil Left

That's a MIGHTY BIG DIPSTICK!:) Remember they thought they would run out of horses, until they invented the car. The next thing will come long before oil is depleted. Everyday,it's a new world.

I didn't know the precise figure, but obviously, like so many other things, the world's oil reserves are finite. It's symptomatic of man's greed. 'We' have been using up the world's resources like there was no tomorrow, with no thought of the consequences for future generations.

I wouldn't worry about the oil though. There are viable alternative energy sources which can and will come into day to day use - just as soon as the energy companies can work out how to corner the market and so preserve their income and profits.

The study was done by an oil company BP so there could be a profit motive for that kind of study with those results. They might be looking for incentive to drill in currently banned areas or money for research and development of alternative fuels.

The figure could be lower than that as well. Once many of these third world nations become fully industrialized and a higher percentage of the population can afford cars the 53 year number could wind up being 43 years with increased consumption.

Statistical analysis can be spun. The only true numbers are in the raw data, not the analyzed data.

Ive often wondered of all these years of drawing oil from underground, isnt there some really BIG open spaces caves down there?
