Grab your siblings and hug them tight don't take them granted they are a gift from heaven!

I never had any.
Same here, Rose. When younger it didn't bother me so much but in later years, when I see how close our kids have remained and the things that they do together, I regret what I must have missed.

For those who did have siblings but not in a pleasant way, I do feel truly sorry. They've had it tougher than those of us without. My wife had one sister (who passed away a a relatively young age -51) and there's wasn't a pleasant relationship. My wife has always been saddened by it but has remained close to her sister's children and them to her.

Thank you @Barneyhill You are sweet and kind and caring to take the time to tell us this profound cautionary tale that reminds us all to love one another, appreciate them, be supportive of them, and above all to be mindful to show our love...especially to those who share the same blood running through their veins.

I have 2 sisters and they are wonderful, but since the loss of my mother in 2016 we haven't been in touch as much. I will call them today and remind them how much I love and appreciate them. I'll invite the one that lives near me for Thanksmas and if she comes I'll give her a hug ❤

Thank you Barney. Your words and video were very touching 🙏
You are beautiful and it warms my spirit to knowing my written experience inspired you to contact your sisters. You are blessed to have them. God Bless 🥰

I lost my Mom first, then my Dad, then my older brother....Who was the brother I loved....Brother had a girlfriend when he was in his late 20's, they were supposed to get married....girlfriend took back the ring and married another guy....My brother was devastated that he never got over the girl.....After a year or so, he started to hear things....He lived with my Mom and Dad for many years....They sent him away at one point and they thought over a year he was well, and took him home...No he wasn't well....Mom died first....Dad took care of brother....He had to take
the car away in case brother would try to drive the car....So brother stayed in the house most of the time...They finally came to where we lived to be near me.....I helped Dad, having dinner with him and my brother, almost every night....I worked at that time....
My Dad past away.....Brother ddn't want to live with us....My younger brother lived in another town....I took care of my brother, washing his clothes, feeding him by my house...(He didn't have a license to drive)...I picked him up every night for dinner) He wouldn't sleep in our home...He wanted
his own bed....My son and daughter in law lived in the same town....They would help me....Also my husband...he loved my brother....
We finally retired....My son told us (Why don't you and dad go on vacation)….We did...They took care of brother...One day my daughter and her new baby came an hour to see my brother.....She found him dead in the chair....(My son in law called us where we were vacationing)….
We were on an Island....God took my brother.....The poor soul lived a terrible life....He was a great guy and never hurt anyone....Even with his
condition....(I know we all have stories, and I don't really tell people about our loved ones)….I still miss my brother and he never hurt me or my kids and my husband....I always think My Mom took him to her in Heaven.....

There are some that think because we're sisters, they're suppose to control our lives. That's the kind I stay away from and don't regret it. If I need someone to help me "control" my life, I will ask for their help. Until then, let me do it myself!

.........

Great post, Keesha!

you are a wonderful person to care for your brother over the years. God blessed him with you. There are many mentally ill men and women suffering mental disorders who aren't as lucky as your brother to have a loved one to tend to their needs 24/7. You are awesome and believe me the rewards you will receive in heaven someday will be great. I wish your story could be more wide spread because there is huge number of people who would never go all out in love to aid a sibling suffering from a mental disorder. You are a jewel.

Oh, Thank You....I'm not an Angel....They are the Angel's in Heaven...I did what I had to do...I was lucky to have my kids during that time..
My husband and my kids also loved my brother....I just thank God that Mom didn't have to see her son pass away....She has him in Heaven

My sister ( three years older) and my brother ( 17 years younger) Don't have much in common in religion, politics or much of anything but there is a big difference in how we get along with our differences.
I haven't heard from my brother in years, he even has me blocked on facebook

My sister and I talk a lot, on the phone and on facebook. We respect each others views and even joke about them. We both have a good sense of humor. For her birthday last March (80th). I sent her a box of candy. There were two layers. My wife and I ate most of the bottom layer and put in a note that we got hungry. She called, laughing, and said she would remember that better than she would have remembered a full box

People can be different and still get along....or not. Depends on the people

Welcome to the forum @Autumn72., the first 6 years are the best :D

.. I am one of 7 myself, so I know what it's like to grow up with people everywhere.

However, I must ask..who are the Hatfields? I have no idea

Holly, I don't think anyone has answered your Hatfield's question yet: The Hatfield–McCoy feud, also described by journalists as the Hatfield–McCoy war, involved two rural American families of the West Virginia–Kentucky area along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River in the years 1863–1891. Thanks muchly Linda...I'd forgotten all about this thread... :D

If they're a gift from Heaven, God must have wanted to teach me a really hard lesson.
