You may have noticed that our Aussie friend, Permangkelder, has been missing of late. I wrote to ask if she's OK, and she told me her mother had recently died in a shockingly tragic way, and she and her sister are still reeling. She thanked me for my concern, and said it would be OK to share this sad news. I thought her friends on this forum ought to know, and express our support.
 

OH My goodness.. I'm sorry to hear that , I'd noticed Pera hadn't posted in a while, and wondered if she was OK.
If you're in touch Sunny, please pass my sincere condolences to her and her family!!
 

So nice to know so many of my senior forum friends care
My Mum lived on her own in the mid north of South Australia in a place called Snowtown about 4 hours drive from us
On the 21st November Mum was taking a load of washing outside to hang on the clothesline
She had a small table she would put her washing basket on and grab her pegs and then hang out the clothes
This day she caught her foot and fell heavily over said table and cracked her head so badly it was 'lights out'
The Coroner said she suffered a massive bleed inside her brain and she would not have known anything
She suffered no pain but living on her own she was not found till the next day....thank God for nosey neighbours
and because it had been such a hot day her body was unrecognisable as human
Mum's funeral was yesterday 17th December and we had a long way to travel but we could not miss Mum's funeral
Mum always wanted a simple but dignified funeral and a cup of tea afterwards and that is what she received
I read a short verse for Mum but I faltered and my dear niece helped me through....such a lovely young woman she is
My sister and I have found the last few weeks very confronting and neither of us are coping well but that will ease with time

My sister and I feel a bit like a boat without a rudder right now
Mum could sometimes be hard to get along with but she was always 'our rock'
Now she is gone and that is what my sister and I are struggling to come to terms with
We both know she is gone but the reality has yet to set in 😢
 
@AnnieA My sister and her 2 adult children have been such a help in recent weeks
My own 2 adult children....well that is a totally different story....they have not now nor ever been any support to me
They do say you can choose your friends but you cannot choose your relatives....never a truer word
However I am very grateful for my dear sister and my niece and nephew 🤗
 
My heart going out to you, with all of the others here.
I know too that it's a very difficult challenge to deal with.
