A woman was killed and another was severely injured in what authorities described as a "vicious" attack by three pit bulls in Texas.
Officers from the Houston Police Department were called to an address in the 5500 block of Arlington Street in north Houston, Texas, on Saturday morning.
ABC 13 reported a man had called authorities at around 5.45 a.m. to say his wife had been attacked by three pit bulls. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition, according to the station.
Shortly afterwards, police received another call from the owner of the pit bulls who said his dogs had attacked another woman. According to ABC13, the woman was lying in a ditch.

Pit bulls, and any dog that is vicious, and allowed to roam freely by its owner, should be "eliminated", IMO. I like dogs, but any dog that growls and bares its teeth to humans is just a tragedy waiting to happen. When such a dog attacks someone, it's owner should be charged with being an accessory to Assault or Murder....perhaps then, they would reevaluate their paranoia. If I saw such an animal roaming in our area, I would introduce it to the business end of one of my firearms.

IMO the behavior of the dogs is in most cases a reflection of the owner. I know of a few that are absolute babies/lap-dogs. Daisy , the one that used to live up the street would walk up to just about anyone, and roll over on her back........she luv'd belly rubs. She would babysit the grandkids of the house when they were in the yard. If the kids got too close to the street, she'd walk down and block them. Sometimes even pushing them back up the grade, toward the house.

Three dogs are a running pack and a danger to everyone. It's best to avoid anything that will kick the switch on their instinct. That includes running away, yelling and throwing rocks, and whimpering like a wounded animal. All things people tend to do when approached by dogs. Stop stand tall, don't stare, and keep your mouth closed.

I don't think the breed "pit bulls" is any more inherently dangerous than any other breed. But they are large, and powerful enough to do extreme damage to the human body. A chihuahua the size of a pit bull would be as dangerous. I don't know enough about dogs to predict the "pack" mentality of those animals. But dogs ARE carnivorous. And they are quite able to live without human intervention. But the socialization of dogs is definitely something, which owners are responsible.

Judge Judy has little good to say about pit bulls...

I love dogs. I love all animals. Judge Judy is right.
I used to think (as pit bull owners always say) it has something to do with how they're treated. But that's not true. Many sudden, fatal attacks involved dogs that were raised from puppies, in one loving family. There is something wrong with the breed. I don't know what it is, but anyone who doesn't acknowledge the risk is in serious denial.

And the same has been said about, Dobermans , German Shepherds , Rottweilers, the list is endless.

No.
Attacks I and deaths caused by pit bulls FAR outnumber any other breed.

"Pit bulls were responsible for the highest percentage of reported bites across all the studies (22.5%), followed by mixed breeds (21.2%), and German shepherds (17.8%). Mixed-breed dogs and pit bulls were found to have the highest relative risk of biting, as well as the highest average damage per bite.

Wow...a whopping 1.3 % higher count......running neck & neck with "mixed-breeds".

That often depends on how they are bred and for what traits the breeders want to develop.

That's what I think as well. I have old pics from my toddler days with, Prince, my dad's pit bull cattle dog. He came from a line bred to herd cattle and was excellent at helping my dad work his stock. Aggression (other than barking and snarling for herding purposes) was not a desirable trait in that line. In the old pics, I'm hugging and climbing on him in a way that had to be irritating but he bore it patiently.

What???? 17 posts & not a single photo of someone's Pit Bull sleeping with a baby, cat, playing with chickens, goats, or licking a child's face to prove they're nice, safe dogs to own???

And carry a bear, mace, or yellow jacket spray and a baseball bat. I love all animals, especially cats and dogs, but my self-preservation comes first when being attacked.

There are far more dangerous breeds than pit bulls, but they are more rare. Most of these, the average dog owner is not going to find one at the local animal shelter. Many are larger breeds bred for highly protective instincts, some to the point where only the owner can handle them safely – even the family has to be careful because simple incidents of friendly neighborhood “horseplay” will trigger the dog’s instinct to protect a family member.

Also, hunting breeds can be highly dangerous due to being bred for an aggressive nature (hunting wolves, etc.). Dogs with strong pack instincts (huskies and malamutes) are bred to follow a strong leader – so without one, they easily turn aggressive.

In our household when I was still young, my parents had a dog....A very pleasant Animal....After the doggie past away, they didn't want another
dog....When I got married we never had a dog. My daughter and her family have a dog and my son and his family have a dog and 2 cats...

I'm on my phone, laying in bed, hard to post links.
Google "Which dog breed attacks and kills the most people?"
No surprise at the stats. (Forbes article)

Yeah, yeah, so many have stories about a gentle pit bull blah, blah... it's not the dog it's the owner blah, blah...🙄🙄
Get real.
