When Younger People Say They Are Getting Old

It pisses me off on how many young people 30-50 complain about getting old even when in jest. Old seems to be the "in" thing now. Remember when I you referred to someone as old it was an insult?

Old is still an insult if it implies people are old fashioned, out of date
I have not heard young people say that. But so many times they say "all my life----"
when they are 20-21. They mean maybe 6 years!

"Old" is a relative term. The person who's 60 looks back with a degree of sadness at what they could do when they were, say 35, and can't do today. Same can be said by those of us in our 80's when looking back with envy at folks in their late 50's -60's.

Believe me, the aging curve becomes much steeper as the years go by. 😦

I remember thinking my mother as old in her late 30s....
the age I passed 20 years ago...
I cant help but get older but still refuse to grow up...

I enjoy being old, once the pain element is under control.

It is an age of fulfilment when I can take time to reflect on the good things in my life and try to be a positive example for civility and compassion. This calmness was appreciated by several harried and harassed shop assistants in the week before Christmas because I had all the patience in the world and gave genuine thanks for their service.

How else could I celebrate Christmas with my children, their children and the newest arrival, my first great grandson if I had not lived long and prospered?

At 67, I'm feeling a general slowing down, a bit, in my life. I still can run all day, but the next day, I feel it more than in days gone by. I've started researching stimulants, online, only to find that all are things that irritate my stomach and lower GI tract. Frustrating.

I have no problem with kids saying that they're feeling old. My daughters are in their 30's. Both say they're feeling much older, at times. I get it. Only they know how they're feeling, and I respect their views on themselves. Who am I to take umbrage at their expressed feelings?

When Younger People Say They Are Getting Old

News flash: From the moment of our birth we're all getting old. Until we're not.

p.s. If it's "in" to be old now, I'll gladly accept my place as part of the in-crowd!
