Any hat lovers on here?

I believe I mentioned in one of my comments on another post that I love costumes (part of the joy of having been in a dance troupe for many years was the joy of costuming). Well, I also love hats. I love scouring old junk shops for hats. Here are three I found on my recent trip to FL to visit my daughter. I only bought the black and white striped, but wish I had gotten the turquoise one as well as I absolutely love it. as everyone on this forum whose been here for a while will tell you, the picture in my avatar is one of the very few where I'm not wearing a hat. I wear them loads , in the height of summer and then beanies in winter... I do love a hat, and everyone says that I suit them, which not everybody does.

Lovely pictures.

I have a sleep hat that I love. I prefer sleeping in a cold or cool room and find I sleep much more sound if I wear a comfortable, warm, close fitting, fine knit hat on my head. No pics because it is not at all attractive .

But that's not really the kind of hat you meant, was it? Sorry.

Carry on.

Thank you for the kind words. Any hat will do ;)

Super. The hats are beautiful and look lovely on you ladies. Marlene, the turquoise hat was a knock out. I hope you will find another and buy it this time.

I love hats an wear them all the time. Sometimes even a bandana tied around my forehead to keep my hair in place in the summer. Hats are so beautiful. I barely remember the days when a lady was not considered fully attired unless she was wearing a hat.

And, don't forget color matched or white gloves!

I love my hats or titfers as they are affectionately called in England or where I come from in the south east. I have lots of hats and like them all but have to have a clear out from time to time. I have a gorgeous hat that was worn for my Son's wedding in a few years ago and it cost me a fortune and I still have it stashed away in its box and have worn it and will wear it for special occasions if they arise

How interesting. I've never heard the term "titfers." I love it!!

You look like you could be in a ladies fashion magazine. That hat looks fantastic on you.

Titfer comes from the London Cockney slang terminology "Tit -for-Tat"

The expression is Tit- For-Tat and for us Brits means an exchange of something between people. Or as Google sais..an infliction of an injury or insult given by others.

The vagaries of our English langusge in the UK and definitions usually only recognised by us..lol!

actually, we also use tit-for-tat in the U.S. to mean pretty much the same thing about exchanges. If you insult or are mean to someone, then expect tit-for-tat. It's interesting the things that are the same and the things that are different. I just learned recently that our calendars are laid out differently when a friend from Stoke-on-Trent sent me an art calendar for Christmas. Our calendars begin the week with Sunday, and apparently, yours begin with Monday. Subtle difference, but interesting.
