Remember when we had just 3 or 4 choices of tv channels but there was always something good to watch on TV, and now some of us have hundreds and there's very few shows we enjoy as much as we did back in the day .?

Remember when it was always sunny when we were kids ( probably not) but it seemed that way...

So aside from people and animals.... What do you miss, and what would you change if you could ?

I have no idea if it can ever be 'fixed', but I miss (for everyone's sake) the childhood I had walking or bike riding everywhere, being gone for hours (with or without friends), going to the local parks, riding to the local public pools, and not a single thought about 'stranger danger'. We had a childhood without fear and what felt like total freedom.

I'm odd I guess. But I just don't dwell on the past for some reason, so don't really reminisce about what was ..
My way of coping with life in general is to live in the present, stay content, and not be too concerned about yesterday.
Forward progress, and what's to come interests me the most.

Yes, I also regret that kids are no longer permitted to be out of their parents' sight. My grandchildren couldn't possibly imagine how much freedom I had. At 8 and 5 they have never experienced a moment, day or night, when they've been farther than 20 yards from an adult responsible for their care, and never-ever out of eyeball range.

No exaggeration.

Good, old-fashioned shopping malls, which are rapidly becoming a thing of the past. I like to try on clothes before I buy.

About the TV channels, Holly, maybe you don't have the streaming channels we get here? I've found just the opposite of what you describe; there are lots of choices now, but also a lot of absolutely excellent shows to choose from. No commercials. Programming is on a much more mature, intelligent level than it used to be. Do you get Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Telephones with connections so good "you can hear a pin drop".

It was considered an advancement to be able to speak with someone without having to write a letter or a telegram. Now, people want to text. I have to tell people to call me or leave a message if I'm not there. I won't answer texts.

Oh no we have lots of channels Sunny...we personally have over 600 channels on our subscription, what I meant was that there's nothing worth watching which gives us as much enjoyment as they did when we only had a few channels to choose from..

why not RR... ? .. sometimes a text is the only way someone can get a message to you. For example I will try and ring a number and it may be engaged or for any number of reasons I can't get it to connect, so I'll send a text, and then I can see when the recipient has read it, and it also allows the recipient to reply at their own leisure, rather than me feeling like I may have rung and disturbed them at an awkward time, like during dinner or when they have company or during their favourite tv show..

Anyway now I know why you never reply to MY texts... :sneaky:

Oh, I forgot you are overseas. Well in that case, I'll have to. I didn't know overseas texts are free.
some charge around 25 cents to send a text from the USA to overseas or vice versa , others are free, depends on your provider... but there are websites you can go on, where you enter a prefix number before calling the overseas number and the price can be as little as 1 penny a minute for a call.. and free for a text . I use the aforesaid websites when I'm calling my daughter... otherwise I just use whatsapp which is free.. be careful tho' because SMS otoh is not free

I miss my good health and strength which gave me courage, a sense of adventure, and the ability to get into all kinds of fun mischief. It gave me POWER. I miss that so much. Haven't lost my mind, and I don't expect to.

not on whatsapp holly lol
NO, I said whatsapp is free... :p my daughter who is overseas, and I, use it for contact all the time , every day in fact, because it's free, whereas texts cost money if you're not in the same country or unless you're using a British phone in another country for example

This reminds me that many folks (outside this forum) are too young to remember where the term "reach out" that seems to have replaced "call ...", came from:

Well, maybe that time my Grampa T fell outa that huge cherry tree
Flailing at limbs and ladder on the way down
Jus' couldn't stifle the laughter that erupted from my mouth
