Remember the pay toilets on the rest stops? Some stalls would have gadgets on the door where a dime would be inserted and you got to do your thing in style. I never could quite figure out why, as these were as dirty as the rest of them.

These stalls were the butt of a lot of jokes. "Here I sit all broken hearted......."

maybe they still have them in places, but in the 14 years I have been driving back and forth to Florida, I haven' t seen one.
 

Kalifornistan, where our state government forever creates Utopia, outlawed pay toilets years ago. I reckon other states have done so, too.

It's similar to the notion that gas stations owe us free compressed air, also a part of the Utopian dream. I never figured that one out, either.

I don't know, Fish - the gas stations around here ALL charge for air - usually $0.75 for 3 minutes worth.

I remember pay toilets in a few scattered places over the years, but they were never in the majority. Now having a bathroom attendant who you had to tip for handing you a paper towel is something I grew used to in the clubs I went to. Also, being coerced into buying their cheap, stinky cologne at usurious prices - as if my natural manly aroma wasn't enough to drive the ladies wild! :playful:

Found a bargain toilet at 5 cents......saved a nickel.

Was watching Alaska Last Frontier last night and Otis had to move his outhouse because the "Poopsicles"were getting to high and the old place was full. The ground was frozen and him and his wife had a heck of a time digging a new 7 foot hole to set the outhouse on. Funny stuff.....
