Bet on your weight loss

I saw this on tv this morning. So, us chubsters can go to this site and bet on how much weight you can lose and in a specific amount of time. I am wondering how they know if you tell the truth about losing it.

You win money if you reach your exact goal in the specific amount of time. They show people who they say have lost up to 100 pounds. It also says you can win up to $10,000.

I know if I try this I better be ready to lose.

Keep in mind I don't know if this site is legit but it was advertised on network tv early this morning. Proceed at your own risk!

Here is the site:

Healthywage

PS. Someone said they will ask you for an email address. If I try this I'm going to use an alternative email that I use just in case they would send me junk mail.

I filled out everything but then you get to the last page n they want your email, I’m done...... all they want to do is send you a bunch of junk n fill up your mailbox, jmo I honestly don’t believe they are going to take your word for it that you lost X amount of weight, it also says you have to bet money too, sounds like a scam to me.

I didn't fill it out yet and don't know if I will but I have an alternative email address just in case I'm sent junk mail. Once a company sends me too much I unsubscribe from them or have it marked as spam. I don't know yet if they will do that, though, but most places you sign up at do want an email address.

No! I think if making money is your incentive for losing weight, you’ll lose the money, not the weight.

If your incentive to lose weight isn’t to live a better quality of life by being a healthier version of yourself your chances of success are slim to none.

A better idea is to go visit an old folks home and speak to a physiotherapist about muscles deteriorating from weakness and lack of use.

Use it or lose it is a phrase that comes to mind.
Spending a significant amount of time with people who can no longer walk or do things on their own sure puts things into perspective.

Most of my relatives who are obese have had to have knee surgeries. The extra weight put too much stress on their knees. Losing weight is so much easier on all your joints so less pain is the end result.

The chance of you getting diabetes lessens when you lose weight. Are you diabetic?
Anyway I think this is a scam !

If something sounds too good to be true ...🙄

Whatever...I haven't tried it. Who's to say you can't have it all like all the incentives you say and bet on it too? I don't know if it's a scam but I haven't tried it and neither has anyone else yet here(to my knowledge) so who's to say.;):whistle:

Maybe you can
I said I ‘think’ it’s a scam. Maybe it’s not. I don’t know either.

Anyway I didn’t mean to rain on your parade.
If earning money is the incentive you need to lose weight and you trust this system, then go for it.

I wish you much luck and success.

Why would these "clubsters" care whether or not you lose weight? Why would they pay you money? What's in it for them?

This is clearly a scam, or at least a sales gimmick. They are probably using the "lose weight" incentive to get you to open the door a crack so they can get their foot in. You can be sure that somewhere along the line, they will be asking you for money.

The fact that they advertise on network TV doesn't prove a thing about them. Run for the hills!

Why does this sound like a scam that everybody knows it's a scam. Who exactly is going to pay me up to $10,000? One thing that's glossed over is that when you make your bet, you fork over the cash. DUH! What do you think a bet is? And what happens if you lose? As the site says," Although financial incentives are great weight loss tools, people sometimes lose their weight loss bet. " And who certifies who won or lost bets? Well?
It's probably that Nigerian Prince.

That's okay you didn't rain on my parade. I haven't explored the option of trying that at this point. I was just trying to keep an open mind about it. Thanks for your well wishes.

Are you speaking to me personally? I was just trying to keep an open mind about it. I haven't even gotten past the first page of it. And maybe you think so but I'm no fool. ;) I was just wondering if anyone was interested. Of course I would think that some who bet lose because they don't lose the weight but I have not tried it. Isn't that another way to think about it?

And I don't think everyone knows it's a scam. I'm not necessarily defending that site but just trying to stay open which apparently many don't do. I don't have a clue to their process as I have not tried it. I am tempted, though, out of curiosity to find out more about it.

I looked further into this and at their faq and rules and how they verify. It's like betting on the horses where you place a wager. You have to follow their rules exactly or it doesn't work and you lose. I saw the BBB reports. Those are people who wanted refunds and didn't get them because they didn't follow their rules exactly. People were trying to get their wagers or registration fees back I believe.

I can see I could not afford to use this site for motivation or incentive because I cannot afford it. I do believe some have won money but the success rate of those on this site doesn't seem to be higher than 40%. I do believe the site is legit but if you don't follow their exact specifications you would not benefit. And the site has to make money to pay for their expenses as most sites do.

The site is for those who want to be motivated by winning money for weight loss but they have to invest, too. Like I said it's like betting at the horse races, to me.

I tried to see how much I would win if I wagered 5.00 to lose 30 pounds but the site was not working right at the time and it wouldn't calculate my winnings. I was just trying to see how much I'd have to wager and how much I'd win. Site was not working at the time.

It's not for me.:cautious:

I wonder if there's some connection between this group, and the scam artists who hacked my friend's computer a few years ago, sending out a notice to my friend's entire email list about a link for an amazing new weight loss discovery. I didn't click on the link, but did notify the friend, who already knew she had been hacked and apologized profusely, even though it was not her fault.

Seems strange that both of these scams are using "weight loss" as their point of entry. (Yes, it might be coming from Nigeria!)

Ruthanne. No way was I questioning your integrity. The first thing that struck me was who was going to determine if you won, or lost? That was kind of up in the air. Also who was determining the odds? Another glaring thing was it wasn't based anywhere- it was just a website somewhere-not in any jurisdiction. There was just so much unsaid that it raised huge red flags.

BTW. I read some of the complaints to BBB. The amount of disputed cash is significant , at least to me.-$300, $500, $600.- $1,500 Those are hefty bets. I didn't read it all, but you have to make monthly payments, it doesn't say what happens to the money you've already paid in, if you quit.

Maybe, if you want a financial incentive, put some money away each month, and if you don't reach your goal, you give it to charity, If you do, spend it on yourself.
