Have you noticed a change in your weather?

I moved to my home in Northeastern PA. in 1993. That year, it was snowy with a foot of snow getting dumped on me about every week. In 2020, I have not had to have my driveway plowed. I swept the total accumulation of snow off my deck. March used to be the month when the snow would melt away after a few days. It's February and my lawn is starting to turn green, there is no snow. It's kind of a thing that we tell how bad the winters used to be. My buddy used to rack up $4-5,000 plowing out driveways. So far , this year, he's made $0. If you're in this forum, you've seen lots of winters. Have you noticed a change in your weather?
For you Aussies, you have winters, too.

We've had a 'mild ' winter here in Buffalo which is fine by me
Our average snow total for winter is over 100 inch,so far only 57,below normal
On Jan 11th,we had a new record high,67,next day it was 50
We've had no major snowstorms, when the snow comes it usually melts in a couple of days. Its been unseasonably warm this past weekend.Sat was 38,yesterday was 48,today again in the mid 40's.I wish every winter to be like this Sue

Absolutely. Last year, I am in N.E., had snow once, this year none. Very frightening. I am afraid for my grandson. Was talking with son about this, telling him hope for a good future must always be taught, and my son speculated maybe his son might have to become eco-terrorist. Very afraid for our children and their children.

I'm not sure, but of all the years I've been in the Ozarks, I've never before seen these layered sunsets. I guess it could be something like the debris from wildfires in the upper atmosphere. I don't know.

Here on the southcoast of Mass., the winter has been very mild. The ponds and lakes have not frozen over and snow has been almost non-existent. We always fair better than those living a few miles inland but even the rest of the state has had mild weather.

Just about the same here...S/Ohio. Works for me, I can do without snow & ridiculous cold !

Down on the Gulf, we haven't had any winter weather to date ... a few 30's early in the morning a few times, but that's about it. Very mild.

I'm convinced that the climate is warming....and at a faster pace. I used to have to hook up the blade on my tractor to clear our gravel path to the road....when we got more than 8" of snow. I haven't used my blade in at least 5 years...as our worst snow in recent years has only been about 4". We are seeing higher rainfall totals every year....almost 7" so far this year....twice the normal amount. Then, in the Summer, the days when we can open the windows are getting fewer...so our AC use seems to be increasing.

We've had very little snow so far this winter. I don't mind, as it makes driving and walking easier. However, it makes me wonder if we are in for a hotter summer than usual. I hope not, as I am not a fan of heat and our summers tend to be humid, which I don't like.

Last night the weather guy on t.v. said it was 64 degrees yesterday. Now we're under a "winter storm warning." This area gets very little snow, it's the wind chills and ice everywhere that I have trouble with.

The Whole Worlds weather has changed.....the Universe is getting its own back, by-the looks of it ..

We have had a great winter so far, No Snow!! I think it’s been pretty cold some days-1 a few times, but it’s still February n today it’s going into the low 60’s If we can just get thru St Patrick’s Day without the proverbial snow storm we’ll be home free!

We're still waiting for winter to arrive, or so it seems. However, because Britain is an island, our weather is determined very much by which way the wind is blowing. All this winter, we've been getting weather systems from the west, with the result that it has been mild and very wet. Other years, we get systems from the East or the North, which bring polar air bearing snow. Last winter, Europe had a very cold winter, but we managed to escape.

You're absolutely right Rosemarie, it depends largely on the wind direction. We live on the East coast and are largely sheltered from the rain that comes with the West wind. We do get some very cold winds from the North and East.

We had a dusting of snow followed by rain yesterday afternoon. In contrast, today has been a lovely spring day and we did a bit of gardening.

A note on warming. People are told the water levels rise with the icebergs melting. Of course they do but understand as the icebergs melt in to water that water absorbs the heat from our Sun where as icebergs reflect the heat. This results in the oceans getting warmer hence the atmosphere also warms and that is trouble for everyone on the planet.

Not part of Global warming or anything, I just had this time of year, when the weather is kind of bi polar. Not sure what it will be, But I know the Almanac predicted a Hard winter. Where I live it was pretty average.

Here's a tidbit I find interesting. 🙂
Global Warming?

The Washington Post

The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report
that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.
Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

I apologize, I neglected to mention that this report was from November 2, 1922. o_O As reported by the AP and published in The Washington Post - 98 years ago!

Or this maybe.

Warmest winter for us here too.....so disappointing since I look forward all year to lots of snow....only got one snowfall that was gone the next day after a warm sunny day.....I'm still hoping March will shower us with the fluffy stuff ❄
Last winter here was brutally humid; this year will probably be the same, ugh....
