Classic Rock, "Oldies", Motown and Country music DVD concerts

One wall of framed pictures devoted to old Western TV Shows, rodeo and a picture of the Great Indian Chiefs
Star Wars stuff

I collect dust.
I collect pitiful stares.
I collect navel lint in a jar.
I collect dreams and hopes that will never be realized.

I am a small collector of Cambridge Glass because my Grandparents worked for the company in Cambridge, Ohio.
Use to collect matches with the hotel, restaurant or whatever moniker on the cover. I must have over 3-4000. Being a pilot, I got around.
I have a rather large collection of Doo Wop records from the 50's and early 60's.
That's about it.

I live with a hoarder, that should explain everything.

My 89 year old Uncle that died last November was a hoarder. His daughter, my cousin, asked me at the funeral, if I would be willing to help clean out the house and look at everything before being thrown into a dumpster she was going to have spotted at the house. I said I would. I never expected to find so much worthless stuff in my life. He lived in a huge older home and he even had his Mother's furniture stored inside his home. She had died maybe 50 or so years ago. There were three cousins and one of my cousin's husbands, my wife and myself that went through everything as we tossed it. I told my cousins there are more memories here in this stuff than valuable property. We got rid of 8 pick up truck loads into the dumpster. My uncle was well off, but a hoarder nonetheless.

I did find a few questionable items that I told my cousin to research because I felt there may be some value in them. One item in particular really peaked my interest. It was picture that appeared to be of the crew of the Enola Gay. These men (some in military uniforms) were standing around the airplane and smiling. At the very least, it had a lot of history to it. I told my cousin to research it. She said, "No, if you want it just take it. You're into airplanes." I found it to be just what I expected. The Enola Gay, (the name is painted on the front side of the plane), and the crew. Unfortunately, it is unsigned, but it is not a duplicate, but an original. The value is unknown. Like the one antique dealer told me, "It's worth whatever you can get for it." He suggested that I take it to a document examiner and have it appraised, which would cost a fair amount of money, but I wasn't interested in selling it. I sent the Smithsonian a letter and a picture of the picture asking if they would like to have it. That was in June and I have not yet heard back from them.

The picture looks similar to this one that I found on Google Images.

My cousin that lived in Milwaukee had a fairly large collection of firearms. When he died I inherited part of his collection. Added to quite a few I already had I guess that makes me a gun collector.

FYI In some places in the United States it's illegal to collect rain water.

Didn't know that. WHY ?? Texas doesn't have such a law. ..I collect rain water in 65 gal. drums for gardening purposes.
But that's about all.
Like others around here, I'm trying to de-clutter and get rid of unnecessary stuff.

I read about the rainwater thing some time ago. I think it was in Denver the first I heard about it. The city or maybe the state claimed all runoff water belonged to them.

I think it's going to take a revolution to get this country back on track.

I collect rainwater too and I know a good place to hide bodies if anyone tries to stop me.

Good for you Larry! ..:D

Well, I can't lug everything outside. I can barely manage as it is. I've had very few problems except when I get several people at once and some want to go inside and some stay outside, I feel like they are deliberately dividing my attention. I've had things turn up missing, luckily they were not rare, valuable items. I feel if people have to steal a $1 sugar bowl or a 50¢ knickknack, then they need it more than I do. One time I had about 7 people inside and I thought they had all left when I heard footsteps in the upstairs hallway, A woman came down carrying a quilt she had just taken right off of a bed! I told her there was nothing upstairs for sale and she got miffed. She said that it wasn't an ESTATE SALE then unless EVERYTHING was for sale and that I was keeping the "good" stuff and selling junk.
