What do think were the five best TV shows of all time?

They come and go. currently we watch Midsomer Murders, Death in Paradise, NCIS New Orleans and lately Miss Fischer's murders.
Charlie's Angels seem to have faded away.
PBS has aired some country music shows lately.
I like some travel and nature shows.

Law & Order (All versions of the it.).
I love Lucy- Come on, it's still on after 70 years.
Star Trek - you just can't kill it.
The Honeymooners- there isn't a "family" sitcom from The Flintstones to King Of Queens that isn't some type of a remake.
Gunsmoke Matt, Kitty, and Doc will be on for centuries.

Have to get back to you on a few. The only ones I can think of are The original Star Trek and Gunsmoke. I know there's more but my brain hasn't kicked in yet!
Oh yeh! Twilight Zone
Anything with Ricky Gervais.

I could never narrow it down to five .... So many great shows from the past, the great comedies, like All in the Family, Carol Burnett, Lucy, Show of Shows, Odd Couple.
Then there was Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Daily Show (Jon Stewart) from the past, and Nova. ...so many.

the best shows are those with cast members that are interesting, you can
take a run of the mill show, add cast members that play off each other; having characters wherein the audience knows each actor is not a manikin

we like characters that have a life outside the plot of the program-' their
kind'a like real people'
plots, ,mini-plots within the program-most important you have to have
casts that can carry their part of their narrative

if you have a poor cast thrown in car chases, murders, sex, maybe the
audience won't notice the program is full of holes
Hill Street Blues was one of the first series to indicate that the cast
were not all gung-ho cops
I do like to watch marshal dillion shot a bad guy ever now and again

In years past.....
Victory At Sea
Red Skelton
The Honeymooners
The Sopranos
In recent years...
The Vikings on the History Channel

I've got a shelf of old VCR tapes from some of these older TV shows, and on bad weather days, I sometimes watch those.

Victory at Sea, an all time favorite, especially the music. It seemed to me that when I was in early training in the Navy and there was an unavoidable lull in activity, they trotted out Victory at Sea. That was fine with me.
I liked all of yours except the Honeymooners. That "angry" brand of humor rubs me the wrong way since I grew up in with an adopted father who was prone to violence. That is, up until I was about 16.

Going way back I would have to say, I Remember Mama.
Apples Way, Walt Disney.
All the variety shows and the music shows Hootenanny, Hit Parade, Glen Campbell.
Sopranos ,Boardwalk Empire. Recently, Longmire, Bluebloods and Yellowstone.

Goodness me , I'd find that very difficult to pin down... also like @RadishRose, it would depend on what age I was..something I loved when I was a kid I might think was pants today.
