What is everyone doing for exercise when gyms close down?

Just because we're stuck indoors doesn't mean we have to sit on our bums all day. Think about the movements you make while cleaning....stretching up, kneeling down, bending over.....it's all exercise.

We still walk (everyday) in the mall and keep our distance from others (not many). We walked outside on Friday as it was so nice. When the weather gets warmer we will walk outside more. We also have free weights at home.

My gym closed on the 19th. So here at the house I've been using some free weights, along with some elastic workout straps. I do some upper and lower body stretching and I've found some arobic exercise videos on YouTube that I'm using for cardio. I miss seeing the folks at the gym, but it is what it is ..

hopefully I'll be well before long and I'll be able to get out , and if they put an all non essential movement order in place, then I'll just walk in the fields and woods next to my house.. they're not forest just large woodland but better than nothing..
Holly, when we used to travel a lot, if it wasn't convenient to exercise, I'd just dance in front of the hotel room TV for 15 minutes 3 times a day...lol.

We stopped our lifelong 4-5 time a week Gym visits about 14 years ago.

We decided that $900.00 a year membership, plus the transportation costs, which would increase as the years go by, would pay for us buying our own gym equipment in about 4-5 years.

So we did, and have our gym at home.

We also are continuing our daily walks outside. We do, however, turn and go the other way on the rare occasions when we encounter someone else walking in our direction.

I saw a guy on tv the other day he'd squirted a little oil on his kitchen floor and was holding onto the counter and walking in the oil like he was on a treadmill... not to be recommended for us ol;der folks, we'd slip and break a hip...
He'll end up in the ER with a bunch of Coronas.

My son went live on FB today with a House music dance party, so I danced. I will probably dance for 1/2 hour a few days a week. I wound up taking short walks 4 times in the past week to go to the bank and to the local supermarket. I also have a mini cycler I will start using. And remember the EZ Krunch. I still have mine and I can feel that thing working my abs. I should probably use my weights too.

I just got home from a lake with a large walking path around it. Because it was 60 outside & drizzling & because the Mayor ordered everyone to stay home, I thought it would be deserted. I like that park because, besides the geese & ducks, the squirrels take food out of my hand.
It was PACKED. The park has 3 large parking lots & lots of other spaces. I spent 15 minutes looking for parking.
NO ONE was more than 4 or 5 inches apart; it's not possible to be any further apart than that. The walking path is 3 ft wide & was crowded. Only ONE person was wearing a mask.

I waited for the S.W.A.T. team to show up & start arresting people, but....not one cop in sight. They were too busy enforcing the "No Touching, No Handshaking, No Kissing rules........teehee.

I walk outside. I also have a ramp outside my door, it is one that bends around on itself, so it is about 35 feetl long, total, with a slight grade to it. I walk up and down that a few times a day.
Cannot walk at the malls for now, as they are all closed per NY Governor orders
