This "service" has certainly taken a hit, due to COVID ? I just placed an order....earliest pickup or delivery is Saturday the 11th ! 1-2 pm.

It used to be same day, for either pickup or delivery.

I'm finding that while there is profiteering at most stores both online & bricks/mortar they have the items listed at higher prices but can't keep them in stock or even get them delivered. The delivery infrastructure is not there. Fewer trucks on the road converts to delayed deliveries. They can list the item at whatever price they want but can't promise delivery. I'm keeping track of prices asked so that when and if this rights itself I will remember who was trying to take advantage of my needs.

Example: Item listed on Amazon for $19.99 @ Walmart the same exact item is listed at $29.99 neither has the item in stock until Apr 17th.

Being sequestered at home gives me plenty of time to chart items, helps with my boredom.

Yep. same thing happened here at our Walmart because they started limiting to 20 the people allowed inside at one time. That transferred to a lot more people using the online service. The soonest we can pick up an order is the 11th. (that's the outside pickup, the one in the orange colored spots) I don't know about the inside pick up as we don't use it.

Walmart's website has a "marketplace," similar to Amazon's. Make sure the item is actually being sold by Walmart by checking the "retailer" box on that website or you might be seeing a 3rd-party seller.

Yes I had checked, item was being sold by Walmart there were other sellers but they were higher. Then 2nd item checked was $24.99 on Amazon, same exact item model#/details being sold by Walmart was $29.99, other sellers wanted up to $61. I have found that Amazon is hard to beat if you list the item on your 'Shopping' list then wait a few weeks for price drops.

I've found that if you check early in the morning (3 or 4 am) you can usually get a time slot the next day.

I've discovered the same thing here. They seem to make the slots available right after midnight.

The problem here is that certain things like TP and distilled water are "in-store purchase only." I know these things are in very short supply, but I don't see why that makes them "in-store purchase only." They can limit the number of such items just as easily in pickup orders as they can in the store. All it does is force you to go into the store to get that one or two items.

I was going to make a quick run to the store tomorrow. I went online to look at the circular and to get a couple of digital coupons only to find out I had almost an hours wait just to view the circular. Then I needed to give them my email address so they could tell me when the hour was up. At that point I had only 15 minutes to get my digital coupons, which then comes off automatically when you use the store card and read the circular..
This was all due to the volume of people ordering online. I would think they would set up a special web site just for that.
I also found they are limiting the number of people going into the store at one time.
I decided to stay home. We may have some unusual meals for the next two weeks but I'd rather be safe.

How do you get on the govt. vulnerable list?
Using medical records the government identified those most at risk and wrote to them to instruct them not to leave the house for three months. Those people have had their names supplied to the major supermarkets and are able to access priority delivery.
The rest of us have to take our chances.I have given up!I managed to get oat milk from Amazon and soup is being delivered by Baxters soups.

Furryanimal, I registered with Sainsbury a long long time ago and I believe included with my details I had to give my date of birth because approx 3 weeks ago I received an email from Sainsbury saying that given my age I come under the priority list and can book a slot weekly.......it works like this I make an order when that has been delivered I can go to their website and book an order for the following week.........this was before the government sent out letters prioritising people because of health reasons, I have no health problems so Sainsbury wouldn't have received a letter from the government regarding prioritising me....so it was Sainsbury themselves that prioritised me.

I have never shopped with Sainsburys ....ASDA,Morrisons and Ocado-yes.But i have had nothing like that from any of them.

I ordered ours Friday and it’s due today. I hope it’s a better order than last time, because my last order was missing so many items.

And they don't tell you till the order is delivered......Can't even make substitutions .

Furry animal, I believe it is only Sainsbury that are prioritising customers in that way plus the minimum spend I am given is ÂŁ25.00

As mentioned yesterday, putting items on your Amazon lists, once listed then any reductions in price are flagged. Good way to save on mostly non-essential items that you have time to wait for. Ex. I had put one item there priced @ $24.99 listed on Walmart @ $29.99 was reduced to $22.99, a 23% savings over Walmart.

Concerning online groceries, we use Schwan's for most of our frozen products, meat, fruit, vegetables,,,etc. Hard to find paper/cleaning products are items we must get at the local stores. Order/pay online Sunday, delivered next day on your porch with a knock & wave, during the last couple months all items have been available without the price gouging. Pay a little more but quality is there.

I managed to get an order delivered at last, after days of trying. However, they were out of stock of so many items that I shall have to go to a store to buy the things they didn't have. Makes a nonsense of the whole exercise!

I've never used online grocery ordering (except for coffee). Even that is taking extra time now.
Today, the news reported that it's difficult now & people should arrange to pick it up themselves at a pre-arranged location. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

I don't do delivery; I do pickup, but it is much the same. The two stores I use have a place on the online form to indicate whether they can do substitutions and I can reject the substitution when I pick up the order if I don't want whatever they've substituted. One of the stores is Wal-Mart and the other is Smiths, which is owned by Kroger.
