Religion Made Simple by Me

The thing about religion is that these days, we are free to pick the bits that suit us, and reject what we don't agree with, therefore there should be no reason for any arguments.

How would this work out if the same principal was applied to the laws that govern our countries? Sorry deputy, I don't care for the law regarding speeding, stealing or murder so they don't apply to me. Are there such things as spiritual laws?

good = god plus "o"
evil = devil minus "d"
Maybe I need to get some of what you smoke since the answer is not as simple as you post.

There are 160 separate killing sprees in the Bible for which God is demonstrably to blame. That number includes every slaughter in the Old and New testaments, and also in Aprocrypha, the contested books which are included in the Roman Catholic Bible but disregarded from the Hebrew version. A total of 2,821,364 deaths are specifically enumerated in scripture as either directly orchestrated by God, or carried out with his assistance or approval. Satan, on the other hand, notches up only 10 kills.

Satan wasn't trying maybe, and has only now decided to show his hand(?).

Yes, there are, but they are not based on belief. They are natural laws.

Well, if you accept the story of the flood, God the Father killed most of the human race by drowning. If you believe the virus is an act of God, well, death by drowning again, which he promised never to do again. Also people should be praying to JC or Mary, praying to God might not be as helpful as people think given the history you mention.

I private-conversationed knight with the reason behind this simplistic thread. (His link is very interesting, to people open to other considerations, at least.) I did the message to him because I promised myself that I was getting out of the fray from an earlier thread I posted that disintegrated into some sniping and off-topic remarks, but here I am.

Here is the basics of what I said to him in 'private conversation' regarding good = god plus "o" / evil = devil minus "d" : 'I posted this simplistic thread because of what happened in a prior thread that I posted. It was meant to mean that people can choose to be good because they believe in a god or fear a devil or just because they know right from wrong and choose to be good. Conversely, people can choose to be evil. It doesn't matter to me (and shouldn't matter to others in my opinion) what the driving motivation is behind someone's behavior - I want goodness to prevail.'

ABOUT ME: So, here I go. I was raised by a hypocrite Catholic mother and a 'saintly' agnostic father (as posted elsewhere.) That's what prompted my simplistic approach. My aunt once said to me something like this - 'It's a shame your dad will never be with you again because he will be going to hell because he doesn't believe.' And my reaction was - uh - if that is the teaching of your church and the mandate of your god, then I have no respect for either. My father taught me to be a good person by example. He was an amazingly good person in all respects. And I was being told that it didn't matter - Mom had the key to heaven, not him. Really? So, my philosophy became simple - I chose to emulate my father and strive to be good.

There is a differ of opinion in the Catholic Church at this time. The Pope announced everyone would go to heaven and the church tried to explain what he meant 🤣. Since what he said is not in line with scripture. Sound familiar? šŸ˜‚

The Bible with its various books is confusing and unreadable for most people since the education level of most people is not up to par and even if it is, the Bible is still difficult. IMO, everyone goes to heaven who wants to go to heaven. Some people donā€˜t want to go.

Where do they go, I have no ideal?

Where do they go, I have no ideal?

Logically prehistoric mankind were off spring of Adam & Eve.

Prehistoric mankind were given housing in villages out in the open because the predators capable of killing them were not part of the selected life forms allowed sanctuary.

The villages somehow became separate as time passed. Probably due to the incest that had to take place.

Seems reasonable to conclude over the years the humans that died that were genetically related to the inhabitants in the various villages would be reunited were their ancestors.

Some might question, what about the space needed to accommodate the billions that have died?

Remember God is all knowing so while creating heaven & earth God pre-planned space to accommodate family reunification. There is a separate area apart from our universe.
