How's everyone doing during these "isolated" times?

I have Bipolar Disorder myself, Robert59, but it's been many years since I had a manic episode—I mostly have depressions—and a great many years since I've needed to be hospitalized. My husband also suffers from mental illness—treatment-resistant Major Depression.

So I know, from both sides, that living with the mentally ill is no picnic. I hope your partner gets better soon.

My husband and I are fortunate: I'm in remission, entirely between episodes, and my husband's chronic depression is fairly mild. This shutdown hasn't made either of us any more mentally ill than usual—just distraught in the same ways everyone else is distraught.

My girlfriend stress me out about her talking about killing herself all the time when she doesn't take her medicine. The reason she had this episode this time is her meds she was taking went up 200.00 dollars a month for 30 pills and she couldn't get in touch with her mental doctor because he never called her which he forgot.

Packerjohn: If these people are not actually living with you then you should not be getting together. Living in the same apartment building is not the same thing as living in YOUR apartment.
Correct me if I am wrong.
The "Cornovirus Police" have mandated that we are allowed to get together with a max. of no more than 10 folks. There will about 7 of us. Life is good; no cabin fever here & lots of fresh country air.

I'm so sorry for those who are struggling already with this lockdown , particularly as it's going to be going on for quite a bit longer in most places. ((pepper))..and anyone else who is feeling awful for whatever reason whether it's illness, loneliness or cabin fever.. we're all basically in a similar boat sadly, except those who are blatantly flouting the lock down rules and who will be responsible for keeping those of us obeying the rules locked up for longer if more stringent rules aren't brought in to deal with them ...

We've been lucky here this last few weeks the weather has been glorious, and although I'd love to be out and about as we usually are... we do have a garden which we've spent a lot of time...so we're very fortunately not locked up in a small apartment as many are , especially with children....or alone with no company whatsoever...however despite the garden I said today that I feel that Cabin fever is now creeping up on me, no mental stimulation aside from physical.

Everywhere is closed aside from supermarkets. cafes' coffee bars, pubs, garden centres, hardware stores, clothing shops, malls...cinemas, theatres.. sports venues.. everything!!. ..we can't even go to our boat because it's classed as a second home...

People who have a hobby they enjoy indoors, are best positioned during this lockdown... and are probably more able to get through it without getting cabin fever too badly... ..I'm not one of those people, I've never been someone who is ''crafty''... and good with my hands, all my hobbies are outdoor pursuits...

We talked to our family today....on the lap top....We also had all on the screen and talking....We had 40 minutes then it went off..
I cried when everyone left...They are all in New Jersey and we are in another State....We always had Easter together....
It's very depressing...… We'll be OK.....Just babbling...!!!!
Peppermint I know how you feel...my only daughter
lives in another country ...it's very hard... :( we'd be usually making plans to go out there about now, and we can't.. and it looks like we won't be able to do it until probably next year nor her be able to come here either..

Had a video chat with the little grandkids and my DIL.....went very well and I feel good about hearing their voices again and watching their silly antics xo....I'm one of those ppl thats used to being indoors for six years now, keeping myself busy and occupied....these days of isolation are no different for me, mainly due to physical issues....my heart goes out to all of you having a rough time, but only You can change that.

Hi Packerjohn,
The "Coronavirus Police" are WRONG, I don't care what anyone says but we should not be socializing with ANY groups and until people understand this the lockdown will go on and on. All it takes is one in the group to get the virus and everyone will and some will die and those in the group that visit it others will infect them too. Here in Ontario we will be fined if we are found in groups of more than 5 (unless it is a family) and they are living in the same house together.

So sad that others will be responsible for this lockdown going on and on and on.

Look at China, they partially reopened their country and lately they have had more cases although most were from travelers arriving from abroad.
This will go on until everyone keeps their distance and the virus is allowed to die out.

I realize from some of these posts that there are others who are struggling with mental illness and I do understand as I go through this daily and it takes tremendous effort to keep those on track. Thankfully mine is on meds and we can cope but others are not so lucky. I try to take each day as it comes and not think too much about the future (it will only drive ME crazy).

I know this is hard to not go out and visit, shop, socialize but just THINK of the alternative.

You know, I think what is so hard is for those people living in the tiny little apts. stacked up on top of each other in NYC and other cities.
They've closed the parks and most don't even have a small balcony so what is daily life like for them - they can't even get close to nature or breath the sweet springtime air. Have never cared for cities and this plague issue has sure given us more reason to love the natural, low density life.

Puzzles, coloring, drawing any stuff like that interest you?

@moosehead doing ok here. I still have to go to work since I'm an essential. on my days off it's jammies all the way. I don't see the need to get dressed unless I have to go to work or to pick up groceries. Nobody here to care but me. And me don't care. LOL!
I really should start doing some exercise & cleaning with this extra time but, I don't know.

I don‘t think the virus is going to die out otherwise we still wouldn’t have the flu. You can take precautions-wear a mask and gloves if you want. Maintain a distance from each other. When we had lunch with our son, he sat in a chair on his lawn, and we ate in our car. We visited for about an hour, then we went home.

No not really , anything that takes patience is right out of the question for me unfortunately..I do envy people who can happily sit for hours and paint or do puzzles..I've tried them all over the years..I just don't have the patience at all...
I can’t do puzzles, never have been able to, the shapes just don’t come together for me. Are you all better now-you and your husband?

Yup, spend a lot of time in my nightie and robe if I have to go outside. Saves on laundry and I’m more comfortable watching tv and just being a veggie. 🤣
