Because I did nothing but go to work, come home, rinse, repeat - and saved most of my money from the job and/or prepaid on my insurance, real estate taxes and utility bills. I already owned everything that I needed - repairing, not replacing. Almost everything I own came from thrift shops (dang, I miss browsing them!) I cut my own hair and for hairspray (when I was working), I used sugar water; I use vinegar, baking soda, and peroxide for just about everything. If I can keep the expenditures down (No major disasters), I will be okay for at least a year. At least, that's what I'm telling myself! How do you live on so little, if I had to live on my 800 a month I couldn’t do it. Husband gets social security and he still has to work.
