Stimulus Money - What are you going to do with it?

How do you live on so little, if I had to live on my 800 a month I couldn’t do it. Husband gets social security and he still has to work.
Because I did nothing but go to work, come home, rinse, repeat - and saved most of my money from the job and/or prepaid on my insurance, real estate taxes and utility bills. I already owned everything that I needed - repairing, not replacing. Almost everything I own came from thrift shops (dang, I miss browsing them!) I cut my own hair and for hairspray (when I was working), I used sugar water; I use vinegar, baking soda, and peroxide for just about everything. If I can keep the expenditures down (No major disasters), I will be okay for at least a year. At least, that's what I'm telling myself!

I want to give something to the local church which always had wonderful music programs that I attended and is now offering them along with services onLine. Took this to make me realize how important it had become to me. And enjoy fantasizing about getting this or that, but the truth is it’s probably going under the hood of my car.

Half into savings, other half paid to CC balances.... rebuilding a house on CCs is a fun challenge.....
All purchases meet the 0% interest for so long if paid off before that date..... saved over $700 last year.
Yup I have a zero rate as well, just got to get it paid off by November, that’s the problem 🤣

UGH ..... We have several......... 8 actually...... Balance of zero on 6.... 1 just opened yesterday... could have paid cash, but saved 20% opening the account... will pay off next month.... Can easily pay the other off but still have 8 months.... Its fun to pitch competing stores against each other....

We haven't received our "check" yet....probably won't see it for several more weeks. However, there is a local church that has set up a day care for the kids whose parents are still working, and we donated a nice sum to them. With the schools being closed, a lot of working parents are faced with some real challenges.

I'd like to replace the roof on our patio. Dave has been promising to so it for two years. He did it 20 years ago, but I just don't think he's up to it now. He's just too stubborn to admit it.

I'm going to try and save a good portion of it to go towards getting another used car...seems like a pipe dream though at this point with the way things are.

I am also going to purchase a good dog carrier and a bird carrier, too. I think it's always a good idea to have them for the pets. Then I need a pair of sandals for the upcoming warmer weather. I browsed them on Amazon and boy do they ever have ugly looking sandals! Saw some nicer looking ones on Wish.com

One more thing I need is a new printer. I got fed up with mine as it went berserk so I threw it in the trash. I saw some really inexpensive ones online at Bestbuy.com

Oh yeah, I didn't get mine yet but hopefully will soon.

Just checked my status, and a check is scheduled to be mailed to me on the 27th of this month. OK, so I know when to expect it.
I will use most to pay on my credit card. I want to get a new computer. Of course, that is not the whole amount. Deciding if I want to put the balance (after computer) towards a new stove or toward a new washer/dryer. Before this even hit, I knew I would be needing to replace all within the next couple years.

@Marie5656 How does one go about checking the status of their stimulus check? Is there a certain website?

I have given 2/3 of mine away to foodbanks and the Salvation Army. I am holding on to the remaining $400 for now. The SPCA will likely get a check from me in the next few days.

My wife has given away about 2/3 of hers as well. Predominately to people that we know have been laid off and are living close to the margin.

@Marie5656 I had to fill out all sorts of information that I filled out but am not a taxpayer any longer. It kept telling me some information was missing and I couldn't figure out what so I gave up.
If you filed taxes for 2018, you should be getting a check. That's the last year that I filed, since I haven't filed for 2019 yet, and I got a stimulus check. So, I'm not sure why you are having difficulty with the IRS site /-;

Still haven't received mine yet.....for direct deposit....am I the only one checking my bank account three times a day, saying to myself, knock it off, there's always tomorrow, lol....

Have you tried taking your computer to Best Buy and getting it updated. It might be cheaper.
