I read on facebook this morning that a lot of OTC medicines and Prescription medicines are made in China. I have been looking on the computer for a site that lists what OTC medicines come from China and what Prescription drugs come from China. Does anyone know a site I can check. Thank You.

Drug companies are NOT required to list where their products are made. They look for the cheapest global manufacturers, then charge the people in the U.S. the highest prices in the world. Those who get their prescriptions from places like Canada and Mexico usually pay half, or less, the price at any U.S. pharmacy. Prescription drugs are probably the biggest "rip off" the American consumer has to contend with.

There's another topic posted months ago all about this....most ingredients for otc as well as script drugs are from China and India....
Don is correct in his posting....they may say manufactured in the U.S. which is true but not the actual ingredients.

This is a travesty that needs to be fixed. You can say what you want about China, but they are not our friends.

It does. But good luck with that if it cuts into Big Pharma profits. They're not going to do it willingly and they pay out more lobbying dollars (and probably under the table bribes) to Congress than any other industry so I doubt regulating them will get us anywhere.

I read this in Facebook today.

Very simple:
Pick up a product. Look at the barcode. If the first 3 numbers are 690 or 691 or 692, the product was made in China. Put it down and buy from any other country.

If the numbers are 00 thru 09 to start, it's USA made. Buy American.

Sometimes it takes something really big to change things. This might be that thing. Of course , as things get better we'll probably forget everything and go back to being our complacent selves. But this should be a big eye opener.

Very interesting thread and posts! Per the website posted above: "Because the active ingredients of most generic drugs come from China and India, including 84% of the world’s supply of acetaminophen, the coronavirus could cause supply disruptions, experts warn." So, yes, I do hope it is a wake-up call. Unfortunately, being such a profit-driven country, if we turn to producing our own medications, the prices will likely become even more absurd obscene.

.
The boxes have been discarded from my products so I cant check the barcodes and I still say most ingredients are made in China and India, shipped here, then manufactured in the US....is FB a reliable source to believe? I read the same thing in Reuters News but can they be taken as truth or fake?

I don't know about FaceBook - I don't have an account. The other link posted here was

I am pretty trusting of Reuters, though. The line that I quoted was posted under the Reuter's image.

None of my prescription bottles start with the number 6 or 0, in fact they start with letters (ie: V3...etc.) But here's the thing...if one or some of the ingredients come from China but the drug is manufactured here, the bar code is going to be added by the (U.S.) manufacturer, of which there could be several for each drug. There were no numbers starting with 6 on any of my supplements either. When I researched the drug information for one of my RXs, none of the details included where the ingredients came from.
