There is no place to go, and nothing to do

I thought you said you threw torn clothing away so I assumed you couldn’t sew. Kind of like when you assumed my nightgown would be ratty and my sweat pants stained. I did go to work once in my nightgown, sweat pants, and curlers in my hair. Won a 100 dollars. Those were the days.

Lots of people don’t sew. If you had been in the military you would have learned how to sew. Because you have to sew patches etc on and someone would have shown you how. My mother taught me to not judge people by what they wear. She was/is a terrible woman but religious.

I am never going to see you in clothes or without clothes so I am not offended by however you dress. The thread isn’t about the condition of ones clothes. But I‘ve thought a lot about ratty clothes due to this thread.

Think how ratty the robe Jesus wore must have been, dragging on the ground while he walked throughout Judea. All those stains from the beatings he took. All those people staring at Him in His dirty, ratty, robe. Clothes mean nothing, they exist to keep you warm.
@Empty brought up the word "ratty" in post 27. When I mentioned it, I wasn't responding to anyone specifically, merely saying what I wear. You then said you'd walk in the mall in ratty, stained clothing (post #30).

My mother and a high school class taught me how to sew. I learned to sew on patches during a stint in the Girl Scouts.

Mom also taught me that people do indeed judge others by whether we take enough pride in our appearance to wear clothing that's clean and in good repair.

I'm not going down a rabbit hole with you about what Jesus may or may not have worn over 2000 years ago, and under entirely different circumstances. It's completely irrelevant to the discussion of whether people get dressed every day during this pandemic.

I learned to hand sew at home and later taught myself to use a machine. And, I forget what exactly I said, so I stand corrected, and you are right, I did say that and I would do that if necessary. I also agreed to dance like a chicken one year. Another 100 bucks. Working at a call center pays well.

Actually, a lot of people don’t judge others based on what they wear. People can be very expensively dressed, as my relatives, and still be cheap. That’s what’s wrong with judgements not anywhere near truthful.

No, but dad wore a smoking jacket, pretty much the same thing

My dad had a gorgeous smoking jacket, different brocades and velvet collar. It was mid-thigh length and was used every year at the church Christmas play on one of the boys playing a Wise Man. I'd give my eye teeth to still have that jacket!

My mother didn't have any hostess pajamas but she had a bunch of frilly, totally-useless little aprons she'd don for special occasions. I still have one....it's made of green netting with red felt Christmas trees and sequins all over it. Tacky to the max, but quite fashionable in 1955.

Who remembers their mom in lounging outfits or hostess pajamas?
I don't remember....But my Mom would only where her night gown when she was not feeling well...
Mom wasn't the lounging type...She mostly dressed very nice even going to the Super market...
So I took after her....If I'm sick I do keep my pajamas on, all day....Other wise I eat breakfast with my PJ's on
Then put on my clothes.... I wouldn't put raggedy clothes even going to the mail box....(that's how I roll)

Well, what would happen if the neighbors saw you outside in your pjs? Would the world end? Would you have to stay home for, hmm, weeks? Are your pjs see through? Will the fashion police show up?

I do a lot during the day as well. I watch tv, then I watch more tv, then I eat, watch more tv, and then I take a nap while watching tv, eat, watch more tv, eat again, watch tv, and go to bed. It’s a hard life, but I do the best I can. 🤪😂

Well I prefer to be presentable outside, OK.

I don’t think I have any ratty or raggedy clothes but since I buy my clothes at Walmart, well, some people might disagree. 🤣

No, you took me wrong...I go to Walmart....And I buy some cute clothes....
No, I wrote that as a general comment-some people think Walmart clothes are beneath them-as in my family members. As in where did you buy that, Walmart 😧. I doubt my nephew has ever been in a Walmart 😂

I change out of my pajamas after I have had coffee with my wife. Coffee just tastes better when you are in your pajamas and still unacquainted with the news of the day. Once you are "fortified", things always look better.

These day, I am not wearing anything that I am going to need to iron. There are plenty of casual items around that look reasonably good on my way to the mailbox or when I take my daily walk. I don't even have to change for yoga.

My wife is a bit fussier than I am and wears some pretty good looking casual clothes that do not need to be ironed.

Now the two Bichons, … well they are already wearing fur and see no point in getting casual for this virus.

Ugh, I was going to try and give Henry a bath-take him into the shower with me, but I noticed he’s matted. I thought my husband was brushing him. Dang it. Now he will have to be stripped. Poor baby, he will be as naked as the day he was born. 😂
