Ford Is Closed!

Yes, the huge Ford plant in Claycomo, MO., just north of Kansas City, is closed. Most of the F150's are made there, and current plans are for it to reopen sometime in mid to late May. However, if you are willing to shop around a bit, you can probably find something sitting at the dealers, or at the massive storage facilities in Kansas City....and for a far better price than making a special order. The last time we were at the Ameristar Casino, in January, they had leased a major part of the outdoor parking lots to Ford to store new pickups while waiting to be delivered....Hundreds of new trucks sitting in the lots.

Just bought my first Toyota in March. A Rav4. On advice of a lot of people. Have not gotten to drive it as much as I would like yet. But so far I like it
I love my Toyota. It’s a standard sports car.
It’s been almost 4 years since I bought it and nothing has gone wrong with it since. It gets greats mileage, is fun to drive and I have zero problems with it.

Love my Toyota. I used to work at a Ford dealership and the inside joke was Ford (fix or repair daily). While working there we were expected to drive Fords which we all did. After working there for 15 years I married and moved away.
Bought my first Toyota and never bought a Ford since.

I have had my current F-150 18 yrs, the one before that 15 yrs, before that [a used one] 9 years.

All served me well, requiring only general maintenance .

Then before all that, in my younger years...I bought /sold/traded all sorts of cars/trucks.....just wanted to try different things.

Closed, but for what reason? Many times they shut down the line to make model changes, etc.

Or is ford completely closed? I'd like to see some facts before jumping to conclusions.

It's not only Ford ...

Detroit’s big three automakers are to shut down all factories due to fears over the coronavirus. This comes by way of the Associated Press citing a person close to the matter. GM, Ford and FCA are expected to announce the plans later today.

Over the last few days, United Auto Workers has been pushing the automakers to shut down their factories over concerns of worker safety. UAW President Rory Gamble sent a letter calling on the automakers to shut down for two weeks.

Ford and FCA said they intended to suspend operations at several Michigan-based plants. Early today, Honda announced it was pausing all operations at its 12 North American factories, including transmission and engine plants in Ohio, Indiana, Alabama, Canada and Mexico.

Because people aren’t working but even when and if they can work, manufacturers need parts. With countries not sending or receiving parts, these factories can’t manufacture their vehicles. I think a lot of companies will shut down and there’ll be another depression.

Same here with our new Nissan @Marie5656 we had plans to ‘escape‘ as we call it to Coolangatta
in Queensland for our usual month away in Winter 🥶

We normally fly up and back the 3.000km ( by road each way ) we were planning on taking our new car this June / July ,we can’t even go into or travel through NSW or Queensland and it’s not likely we will be free to do so until at least the end of September
