Went shopping today, at lots of places including Costco. Oh, they have pork, pork shortage, got to buy pork. Panic buying. WAIT! I hate pork, lol.

Yup dummy me. I did not buy pork. Bought a nice chicken for son. He’s depressed from hearing he will probably need open heart surgery again. It’s only been November 2019 for the last one. Also bought him some canned chicken, a beef summer sausage. Got him the 409 he was desperate for at Win Co.

Got candy for my husband, wipes, a few other things for us at Winco and Costco. Passed by the toilet paper 🤣 at both stores. I might be in TP shortage recovery. 👏. On to Lowe’s when I bought a new vacuum cleaner, and some clearance roses for 5 dollars a piece. YAY.

Are you doing any panic buying still? If so what are you buying?

No panic buying here, our supermarkets still have long queues to get in and half the stock is in shortage.. so we just get what we can when it's available... . I already have a good stock cupboard, but my freezer packed up a few days ago, and we had to throw a lot of food out... so on friday we had to go and buy frozen food..b ut I really only bought lots of Frozen green veg..broccoli, sprouts and cabbage, some chicken, and filled the rest of the freezer with bread, because we run out of that faster than anything else.

There's no shortage of it, never has been, but I thought while I have space in the freezer, first time in years..I may as well stock up on 4 loaves of bread, and that will save us having to go to and stand in long queues again for a while..

So sorry to hear your son is facing open heart surgery ..again!! How old is he ?... must be really depressing and worrying for you all.. :(

Please tell me what a 409 is...

He is 50. He doesn’t have money for another surgery so soon or at all actually. 409 is a cleaner which hasn’t been in stores for 2 months. Apparently it’s his favorite cleaner. He must use it on his Jeep, cause he doesn’t use it in his house.🤣

Found some bargains.
Hormel cure 81 spiral sliced butt half ham for 97cents a lb. $11.15 for the 11.5 lbs. Between ham for ham sammys, large chunks for meals & soup going to have many meals.

Petite cut sirloin steak for $2.99lb. some for soup, some fro BBQ, some for Puerto Rican style with rice & beans.

Real bargain was meaty baby back ribs for $1.25 lb.

Having a kitchen aid stand mixer with a grinder attachment means grinding boneless chuck for meatballs, hamburgers, meatloaf

I can get by comfortably with one pound of meat a week to supplement the things that I have in the freezer section of my refrigerator and on the pantry shelf. This week I'll be searching for a ham steak to portion out and freeze for several meals.

Last Thursday the meat counter at the local Walmart was pretty bare but there was enough for anyone who needed it. I got the impression that they were putting out small amounts of ground beef at a time to discourage hoarding and make sure that the majority of shoppers would be able to purchase some.

The toilet tissue aisle was back to normal!

This week I noticed on the PriceChopper website they have a page that lists things that they are out of or that they are rationing due to disruptions in the supply chain.

So far I've been satisfied with the availability and selection in the stores since the initial round of panic buying that took place a few weeks ago.

I try to maintain my little rolling three-week stockpile to prevent running out of any single item and so far it has been fine.

Went to buy split chicken breasts. Only one pack left. Bought some skinless-boneless. Not the same, but will have to do for now. Used to be no one wanted chicken breast, now they clean out that section of the meat case first. Sheesh! Guess because it's a cheap cut of meat.

I saw in a newsfeed today that Costco is warning customers that they'll be rationing meat. I still have half a Costco rotisserie chicken in the freezer. Haven't had to eat it because the senior free meal delivery service my DIL signed me up for brings chicken meals a couple of times a week. My son, DIL, grandchildren and I do not eat pork. Four of us are Muslim. I got turned off with pork 22 years before I ever even thought I'd become Muslim after things I had read about it. I started eating it again briefly out of boredom...plus I could put "a hurtin' on BBQ ribs. For people who believe in God (obviously I'm one)...don't they think God knows what He's talking about? He instructed all his people Christians, Muslims and Jews not to eat swine. But we get the stink eye if we mention that pork is not good. LOL 😃

I will pray for your son as well as skill and wisdom for his physicians Aneeda.

I don’t know the difference. What is the difference?

I really wish folks would use common sense and just buy what they need. I finally found toilet tissue after 4 weeks of finding none. It's just me, so a 6-pack will last awhile. Now, the challenge is finding a spray bottle of Lysol.

Not hoarding here because I can't find anything, except TP that I found at the most unexpected little place. But they do have a limit.

I'm out of almost everything. Many say they are getting so fat. I'm going to be a toothpick soon. But I don't eat junk food. Maybe I should? I've made so many concessions to this situation.

Buy on line through amazon.

Decided to give up all meat as of a week ago.....between the shortages that might leave us with no meat and the possible contamination from infected workers (even tho the authorities say this isnt possible).....and I luv eating meat....gonna substitute with dairy, beans and fish.

I don't eat pork anyway, but considering the major shortage of beef and chicken, plus hearing the shortage is going to get worse, I've given them up for the foreseeable future. So even with the rationing, there'll be more there for people who need it more than me.

Dietary restrictions of Jews and Muslins had/has extreme health benefits. Pork comes from one of the critters that do not sweat. They have no ability to rid themselves of parasites and
toxins.
Yea, but how you gonn'a turn down biscuit with egg and sausage. I salivate just thinking about it.
I'm a captive of McDonald's
