Does anybody smudge

My daughter sent we one (sage) long ago when bad things were happening around me. But I think the power of the mind and focused positive thoughts sent out to the Universe, awareness of angels surrounding you and an enjoyment and appreciation of all creation accomplishes the same thing.
Bad entities around you? Tell them to get the hell away!
Oh Fuzzybuddy: Sage smells so good! It smells like cowboys and leather and levies and whiskey!

That is new to me.

I've heard of smudging outdoors to discourage mosquitoes and smudging to prevent frost damage on tender fruit buds.

Indoor smudging conjures up visions of ancient American Indian ceremonies.

A friend of mine offered to do it when I had invited her over to see our new house. This was about two months after we bought our house so over 20 years ago. Since she was a good friend I didn’t want to insult her so had it done. She told me that our house had a pleasant energy about it and the scent of sage smelled nice.

Two years before that my best friend since I was 5 years old came over to a house we were renting and smudged around me. She said my aura needed cleansing. At the time I was the most down I’ve ever been and she was married to a North American Indian and said it would help. Just having my friend there helped so I can’t say whether it helped or not. It is their custom. it was done at their wedding ceremony also.

I do not see how filling your house with smoke will do anything other than filling your house with smoke. That is, filling your house with unhealthy levels of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, ash and smoke particles, burned fertilizer and pesticides, and so on.

I've heard of smudging. Never done it. People believe in various things to cleanse their chi and their chakras and whatnot. Some believe it helps get rid of negative auras and spiritual demons and whatnot.

To prevent the smudge, your hand should not budge.

Ok, stop me now! 😶

I am a lefty, so I have to move my hand onto the new ink. If im writing in Hebrew, no problem.

My partner in the tattoo shop always marveled that I could tattoo without blocking my eyes from seeing what I was tattooing. No biggie. He tattooed left to right, I tattooed right to left. When doing inscriptions, yeah, there was a little problem with line of sight, but I never had any tattoo failures.

Oh, ok I get it. Hebrew and Arabic write right to left.

My cousin is left handed. When we were kids learning to write, she would write her name that looked correct only in a mirror's reflection.

A well known Native American custom and tradition in my part of the US. Can find sage bundles, and other cleansing herbs at craft shows and tribal stores.
This^^^

That's the context I've heard it before. In movies, it's used by Native Americans to purify (in the spiritual sense) homes. But I've never seen it in person.

I've been into incense before (years ago,) but have never tried sage.

I've been "smudging" for at least 30 years because it helps clear negative energy and raises vibrations. I stopped using white sage and now make my own bundles by drying rosemary, lavender, and basil.

Interesting... I've never heard of smudging. Well that's one thing I've learnt today!
