My worst fears are coming true. As I have said repeatedly, if people can't control themselves, others will do it for them. That's not how I want to live! It brings to mind old photographs of distant places, were people are herded like animals and driven back into their holes.no one, nobody, no way does anybody want troops in the street.
Troops are not cops, different critters-everyone knows troops in the street
is letting a genie out of a bottle and he is not easily put be put back in his bottle.
Oh, you are so right! As law and order a person, as much as I want this craziness stopped, I do not want troops on the streets. After seven days of this though, I want real bullets in the guns. Innocent people are dying, innocent people are being seriously injured, it’s time to send a serious message to looters, NOT peaceful protesters. What happened to the protestors in DC sickened me.no one, nobody, no way does anybody want troops in the street.

The problem is they are ALL our kids. Don’t you feel that? Don’t we all feel that these young children we see protesting on TV are our grandchildren, our grandchildren’s friends, our kids (for younger forum members) ours kids friends.I'm afraid it will be in my family if some of my kids don't keep their thoughts to themselves. I keep my mouth shut.
The 1807 law has been invoked to deploy our US military into the cities. I am shocked. I called my family in another state and told them, STAY HOME.
Yes, I saw the the US troops used in DC could be used as there and it was clarified that he has only made the threat. You are right. The threat alone may be enough for the governors to act and the protestors calm, but it won’t stop the looting IMO.The order has not been given; it has only been threatened. The National Guard is being used in some places, at the direction of governors, but that is a different kettle of fish than sending active duty military units into cities.
The President stated yesterday that he is close to invoking the Insurrection Act. If he does, this will not end well at all.The order has not been given; it has only been threatened. Either way, IMO, it will not end well, IMO.The President stated yesterday that he is close to invoking the Insurrection Act. If he does, this will not end well at all.
Yes I remember Kent State. I also remember my husband, when he returned from Vietnam diving into gutters when a car backfired, being spit on and called a baby killer. I remember when the freedom train came through town (we lived next to the train tracks) and blew its horn. It's a darn mess-the civilians acting out are primarily young people with out the experience to understand their actions frighten and dismay the general society.
Mature people want this activity to stop! How that is to be achieved is the problem.
Their is a M P Battalion on standby in the D C area-we do not want regular troops
we do not, we do not!
The national guard can resolve the problem if they react in massive numbers.
I have always perceived the national guard as toy soldiers. They do not have the
training to deal with situations where fear is a component.
I hope the national guard in use in the various cities do not have live rounds.
A national guard solider who feels he is in danger will react to protect himself from
a perceived danger-do not give them live rounds Kent State. remember!
Rifles and bayonets make a strong statements, the N C O's and officers normally
have side arms with live rounds.
The Detroit Riots of 1963 or 64, LBJ had the 82nd or 101,st airborn in place thirty
miles from Detroit. Thank God, he had enough sense not to send them into the
riot areas.
Okay, we won't send in regular troops, how to we solve the problem.
We can only depend on our state leaders to formulate plans to deal with the situation.
This will take time-we want it to stop; however, we are not aware of the multiple
problems of the 'rock clunkers.' The kids will continue to act out, the pillars of
the black community must be involved in the solution.
Holly---The police never had control. The Mayors, Governors and police all took an oath when they took their office or position to protect and defend. That hasn't happened. Hell, we even have cops taking the knee just to appease the terrorists. That's right, "Terrorists." There are very few lawful protests taking place and when that does happen, they soon turn violent when the sun goes down and like the cowards they are, they can hid behind the cloak of darkness.I'm afraid it looks like the police may be losing control. The media are leading with ''Lawless America'' as a headline today.....
Looters have broken into and looted Maceys in NYC as well other high end stores during the night
An SUV drove straight at a group of Police officers
Time to call in the army

I agree. Those police chiefs who kneeled must be fired and replaced. We, the people, pay their salaries. We the people pay to be protected. Once this is accomplished, the looters controlled by whatever means needed, hopefully short of actual US troops, mayors and governors can be recalled and voted out.Holly---The police never had control. The Governors and Mayors of the states and cities where the criminals have had their way should resign immediately for dereliction of duty. These bunch of spineless, gutless airheads couldn't manage a pet shop. Why should we expect them to protect us?
They have allowed their police to be treated like feral dogs or maybe even less. They have been spit on, hit with rocks, been sworn at face to face with the most vilest language I have ever heard and believe me, I have heard a lot and now, even shot, yet, they have taken no action believing that these criminals will soon run out of steam.
Well, that will not happen. Pray for the country!
This is what I mean about respect. I never disrespected any President. NOT IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I was raised to respect the position while in the Marines. Do you think I liked serving under Johnson while I was in Vietnam? But, I respected him because he was my President and the majority of the people in the U.S. voted for him. So, if I disrespected him, then I would have also disrespected those that voted for him.Not much has changed since the 60's. Race riots, an unwinnable war and a fool in the White House.
I'm not sure I understand your post. Please explain.911's post on thread 'Check for Safety.... post # 9 should be read.
I've not seen any Highway Patrol in Dallas attempting to control the rioters.
The Highway Patrol has a presence about them. 'do not mess with me.'
