I'm going 3 days a week but will be limited on the money I can make. I'm a nervous wreck!

I guess you're working only 3 days a week now, right?
hahaha1 So many times I've jumped off the cliff, metaphorically speaking, not knowing WHAT would happen to me and everytime,I landed on a soft cloud! When my husband died, I couldn't even talk to people without knowing if I would burst into tears, so i just quit! No plans, Didn't know if I could survive or not. Just do it! You will always survive one way or another. Don't be afraid! Take risks! Take the leap! Shake up your life!
Find out what you're really made of!

It's like putting a hand over your eyes and jumping off a high dive at the pool and hoping for the best. LOL!

Hi Marcia, feeling for you. Money limits can be stressful. I looked at my previous spending and found things I could 'downsize'. Is there anything you can do without or replace with a less expensive version? Anything you can buy less frequently? Perhaps something you can make yourself, saving money? Ah, yes, shopping around on insurance saved me some real money. 'Taking care of yourself while navigating retirement roadblocks' - that's my GoTo.

Hey y'all. Sorry it's taking me so long to respond back I've been very busy. I work at Walmart right now full time and I've got a knee that's really been acting up. If you want to wear out your body Walmart's the place to do it!

Speaking of which is why I'm scared to take the leap! Walmart doesn't work with you on hours. If I sign an availability saying I can only get so many hours they'll cut me down to nothing. It's what they do. Not all of them probably but the one where my store manager is.

I was hoping she'd go away before then but it looks like she's going to be there long after I take the leap unfortunately! So when I retire and plan on going part-time I have to figure into my bills actually having no money in case Walmart retaliates and gives me no hours!

My husband is also going part-time in February. He's had a heart attack and he's a diabetic and his job works him 12 to 15 hours a day. He'll be 62 also and he's also going part-time. He's in a management position at a concrete plant leaves the house between two and three in the morning and usually doesn't get home until 7:00 or 8:00 at night.

So we're going from a couple who's never really had to watch their money much, (not saying we're rich but saying we don't want a lot) do a couple who has to watch their hours so they don't go over in their social security allowance and wind up having to pay back money. We know that if we both don't work part-time we won't be able to make it as the Social Security pays the bills but not the living expenses.

I still have to pay my own insurance for a year after I retire. My husband is on the vets insurance so we have no worries there.

So that's my leap!!

Well, that's pretty odd for around here.
The grocery and dept stores here usually give their employees less than 40 hrs/wk
This gives them the ability to not have to pay benefits like insurance and vacation
Most everybody in our area get like 20 hrs/wk
Full time folks are very rare

Well that's true with the new employees they're hiring at Walmart now but I'm an old time employee I've been there almost 18 years.

Sounds like you having the same thing as we have up this way. Locally, chain stores up this way have several full timers, the rest get 20 to 30 hours per week.
The new normal is going to remove/change a lot in the working world and the benefits enjoyed.
