I'm Purposely Avoiding the News

There are good reasons to avoid the news. There is no attempt at objectivity anymore; it's all an anti-Trump or pro-Trump narrative.

For example, look at this headline from Newsweek. Now, I am not a Trump fan, and I'm glad his rally flopped, but since the rally was Saturday night and the incubation period is much longer than 48 hours, this takes some sort of prize for media bias:

Oklahoma Reports Highest Ever Daily COVID-19 Cases After Trump Tulsa Rally

If anybody knows of a relatively objective news source, please let me know. (I find CNBC to be fairly straightforward).
Here is a Media Bias Chart. There are more.

Every day, any number of important events occur in the U.S., and around the world. However, if you just listen to the major networks, or the cable TV news stations, most of what you hear will be either about politics, this virus, or these protests....Oh, and don't forget the Endless Commercials.

I watch our local TV news, and the evening network news, but have just about given up on the Bias of the Cable TV stations. Most of the time, I just use these news reports as a "leader" which I then use to do further research on the Internet....If/When the TV reports something worthwhile.

There are plenty of good reasons to avoid the news and it doesn’t have to be trump related but that’s reason enough. 😅

In fact, I don’t think he’s allowed to be mentioned since then you are now talking politics and heaven forbid you claim you dislike him. You’re bound for hell in a hand basket.

For those who don’t want the added stress in their life, then by all means skip the News. There’s not a lot you can do to save worldly disasters so no use getting upset over stuff. That doesn’t make you selfish. It makes you smart for setting up boundaries cause everyone needs them.
Whew! Thanks for not thinking I just want to live in la-la land. You have expressed my thoughts exactly. Life has become extremely stressful especially since he -who- must -not- be- mentioned rears his ugly head every day with more BS. You are so right. There is nothing one can do to put a stop to any of this, not the pandemic, nor the riots nor lying politicians, so why steep yourself in it all day? I know people who turn on the tv and watch the same news all day long. So...I figure if there is something world shattering, I will certainly hear about it.😁

I guarantee your life will become less stressful and much more enjoyable if you don’t watch the news, read the news, or listen to it. I’m perfectly fine with sticking my head in the sand in exchange for a peaceful life of solitude. Take up a hobby that involves doing something with your hands. It automatically will keep your mind active and engaged in a much healthier way.

Once before, when I responded to a political post, I was told to take a hike from here. What has changed?
Maybe it's not monitored as closely? I didn't want to cause a problem by mentioning you-know-who. I just thought the headline was particularly funny.

As long as it's not abusive, and seeing as we are in more than one crisis, maybe we're getting a little slack. I don't think insults will be tolerated.

As for me, I stay pretty much out of politics, anyway.🐔

Financially support NPR, NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times and Los Angeles Daily News with either monthly donations or paid online subscriptions. I believe in paying to help underwrite investigative reporting.

Also read AP and Reuters every day. WSJ headlines and their (rare) freebies only. There's a limit to how much I'm willing to pay. Wall Street's bigwigs will have to support that paper.

I lean very far left politically but central to moderately left when it comes to the news that I read.
