Too much testosterone, anger issues, what's the deal? I just heard that another player head-butted his wife and broke her nose. That's some serious domestic abuse there, I'd have a lawyer and sign divorce papers ASAP if I were her. What's going on in the sports world, reminds me of the abuse that the wives of policeman went through. It was like there was a code of silence, and the little woman just accepted it as part of being married to a policeman. :tapfoot:
Lol, appropriate comic Meanderer! I know Ina, awhile back I was hearing a lot about police officers abusing their wives (and children). You wouldn't think of cops as domestic abusers, but they are pretty often I guess. I wouldn't put up with that from a husband in any career, life is too short!

The NFL has gotten away with a lot over the years. Sooner or later their cover ups and pr spin starts cracking and comes crashing down like it did with domestic abuse. And this is still the tip of the iceberg. Think about all the marginal players who part of the NFL culture for a short period of time and pull this crap.
I heard the statistics aren't that different from the rest of society. But unlike the rest of society the NFL player has a lot more going for them and is not like the joe on the street struggling to pay a water or phone bill every month. There is game pressure, not daily survival pressure which many of us face daily.
I also think the NFL has let the drug use get out of hand. Either the players are purposely very well coached on how to beat a drug test or it's a joke testing program. It's onething to be quick, another to be strong and yet another to be huge. Too many NFL players are all three which usually takes "help".

Someone told me that it was reported on ESPN that the NFL wives were told that in case there was a domestic dispute and it turned violent against the wife, she was not to call the police, but they were given a special number to call and it would be resolved in-house by the NFL. Whatever that means. (I am guessing that they have some paid mediator that steps in and resolves these types of issues.) Has anyone else heard of this? I find it to be probable. I also read here on this forum and I checked it out and found it to be true that the NFL has tax free status. I can't imagine why Congress would allow a multi-billion dollar business to be tax free? There is no good, God-given reason for it.

I wouldn't doubt it one bit. I wouldn't doubt that many of the team "security" officials know enough police to give them a call first on a multitude of crimes. Remember the NFL is a traveling and/or broadcasted SHOW. Everything is planned and choreographed except for the game itself-supposedly. I also wonder how extensive the NFL non disclosure agreement is regarding NFL business that doesn't hit a courtroom in which it then becomes public business. I think many NFL and team security officials are nothing but PR fire extinguishers. Remember this is a league that still fights for anti trust and tax exempt status like they're special or something so I wouldn't put it past "the league" to "ask" a few prosecutors and/or police not to pursue an investigation or prosecution among other things just as they "ask" law makers to maintain the tax and anti trust exemptions..

These players are premier athletes. They have been groomed since childhood.. and told they were special. In Highschool they were allowed to get away with just about whatever they wanted and were protected. Same in college. So here your have very large, very aggressive SPOILED BRATS who believe they will never have to suffer any consequenses for their behavior.... because they have never had to. Americans are obscessed with football.. From High School, to College ball.. to the NFL.. as long as they continue to pay... these players will be protected. It's going to take the sponsers to pull the ads to make any dent in the problem.

Different sport and gender but still a star athlete arrested for hitting family member. Where was the outcry here. Sports stars get a free pass and use their popularity and money to elude legal and public justice all the time.

I suggest that the outcry is waiting to see what happens because she is on remand pending charges. I don't see any cover up happening as yet. Time to protest if she is treated any differently to you or me.
