I was on TV a few times. During the one time, the producer told me that there would be a camera on me all the while the program was being aired, but it would not be showing me on TV's at home until the red light went on. Then, there was a seconds counter under the camera and the Producer said that when you are asked a question, the clock will start after I was asked a question and count down from :45 seconds. Once it hits zero, I needed to be done talking. It worked out pretty well.

I should have added that I enjoy speaking in front of groups, so talking for :45 seconds was no big deal.

Smoke detectors going off in the middle of the night. The battery always wears out when I'm sound asleep. Why can't it ever wear out in the daytime? I've had to get up and remove the battery while half asleep and the darned thing is still buzzing away. I've put it in the freezer, out on the porch and can still hear it. The only thing that helps is hurling it down the block. Very annoying.

Good tip is to change all batteries on a certain date so they don't run out like that.. choose a day you won't forget like the 1st day of January or your birthday

I have a friend like that. I have to occasionally remind him to use his inside voice.

We have several outside lights on at night....with many in our block, also....
It would be very very dark at night to not have lights on...
Anyway, get some shades..Or curtains...

It makes good sense to purchase a battery charger too. We used to have one.

I only have rechargeable batteries for everything except my 9 volt smoke alarm. I can't find a rechargeable for it. It's not recommended to recharge an alkaline battery. I do have the charger for a 9 volt battery however.

You seem confused. I don't understand what you're fronting off about.
Lights at night when it's dark to see and for security---->> Fine
Lights on at high noon in the daylight --->> wasteful, tacky, and lazy

When the sun comes up, flip a switch or install timers.

I didn't say people should never turn lights on read my post - I said 24/7. And I don't need shades or curtains...none of this applies to any of my neighbors

How about people texting and driving? I still see a fair amount of that.

I followed a car on the Pennsylvania Turnpike for 7 miles. He told me that he never knew that I was behind him. The driver would go from on the centerline to just off the edge of the road. I suspected that he was texting. After 7 miles, I stopped him. After clearing him, I gave him a warning and sent him on his way. I drove about a mile and did a turn around. About 15 minutes later, I get a radio call for an accident at mile marker xxx. I was thinking on my way to the scene, “Don’t let it be a blue Acura.”

As was my luck, there sits a blue Acura on its side. He side-swiped a semi and lost control and the car went off the road, down into a ditch and rolled onto its side. Two fines totaled $550.00, plus after we received his cell phone call list, we saw that he was on his phone texting at the time of the accident, so that adds another $550.00.

The tractor-trailer driver was fine, but the driver of the car was taken to the hospital and was found to be just shaken up with some minor injuries. He did not contest the citations, so he paid the fines. Being that he was a PA resident, he chanced having his license revoked if he would have contested the charges in court.

Well, of course they are still good, or they would be going off, but how good? If you have a multimeter you could take a reading and see how much juice is in them, or don’t be cheap and spend a few bucks to have peace of mind and keep safe.

My smoke detectors have always given short warning beeps several days before they run down. Also, you can remove the battery to stop the noise until you're ready to deal with it and replace.

I DO remove the battery but the darned thing keeps beeping! When you've been sound asleep you're not thinking too clearly anyway. Tossing out in the backyard or outdoors somewhere helps. Then I can find it, clean it off and stick a new battery in. Voila.
