My daughter and family visited us for the weekend. It was my youngest grandsons birthday who is 9 and I made it to 75. They traveled from Virginia, nonstop. They have been very careful about the virus and we haven't been out of the house except for quick trips to the grocery store with masks and gloves. We felt safe getting together.
I haven't seen them since Christmas.
My daughter made a penguin cake that my grandson requested and she also brought gluten free cake and cookies for me.
We had a wonderful visit and best of all memories were made. Aaron and I.JPG

Happy Birthday @Ruth n Jersey!! 🎉 So glad you were able to get together with your family! I love the pic of you and your grandson! 💕

This is random, but I wanted to ask about that snake plant behind you. It looks like a single stalk. Did you propagate it from a larger plant?

@Ronni ,years ago I had snake plants, one even bloomed, but I got tired of them and gave them away. Recently I saw a variety on the internet that I'd never seen before and developed a renewed interest. It didn't take long since I'm a plant lover. lol
Anyway, I bought a pot that looked like it contained two different varieties. I had forgotten that when they are young they can look different from their mama.
I wanted to separate them and when I pulled them out I found the smaller one was a sprout off the bigger one. Both had roots so I broke it off and gave one to my daughter. She is a known plant killer. I told her if she kills this one she will have to register as a plant exterminator.
The photo shows the one I kept already sprouting. Maybe it did it good to separatesnake plant.JPG them.
I've read that you can even start them from a leaf cutting. I've never tried that.

Ruth you can! I’m starting two right now! You cut the tip(s) off, leave them sitting for a couple days to let the ends callus over, the then put them in water. It will take a while (weeks) but they will eventually put out spidery little roots then they’re ready for planting. See? They’re in just enough water to cover the ends.

These are two I did that with last year and then planted when it was ready. Again, it takes awhile but eventually they sprouted new growth. The two leaves at the front were what I originally plantediF7494E60-9170-4AC7-872C-E862BC691494.jpeg

I love propagating my plants! Here’s my propagation station!

My daughter has a very popular Etsy shop selling tiny plants so I help her as much as possible by propagating as many as I can.
